This was our first visit since the restaurant reopened approximately one year ago. On past visits we always had excellent service and food. That hasn’t changed.

We had a reservation and immediate seating. We started with escargot. I thought it was just ok. I’ve had better. My husband liked it more than I did.

I had the filet mignon and my husband had the bone in ribeye. I upgraded to the French onion soup. My other side was the mushroom risotto. My husband’s sides were a salad and hand cut French fries.

The entrees and sides were all excellent. The steaks were delicious and so tender no knife was needed.

Our server, Vincent was attentive and friendly. Our food arrived quickly but we weren’t rushed.

We highly recommend and plan to return.

I had the pleasure of trying Bill’s homemade cheesecake, and it was absolutely amazing! The creamy texture was spot on—rich but perfectly balanced. The fresh blueberries and Bill’s own blueberry jam added just the right touch of sweetness and tartness. Every bite tasted like pure comfort.
Paired with a glass of white wine at the bar, it made for the perfect treat and a relaxing evening. You can really taste the care and quality that went into making this dessert. Highly recommend trying it if you get the chance!

Review of Copper Oak Steakhouse – Ho-Chunk Gaming Wisconsin Dells

Copper Oak Steakhouse, located inside Ho-Chunk Gaming Wisconsin Dells, is a hidden gem for steak lovers. This upscale yet cozy restaurant offers a fantastic dining experience, making it a must-visit if you’re at the casino. The quality of the food, the portion sizes, and the overall experience make it well worth the price.

Steak Quality & Preparation

We ordered the 14-ounce ribeye for $42, and it was absolutely fantastic—cooked perfectly, incredibly juicy, and full of flavor. The blue cheese crust added a rich and tangy kick that paired beautifully with the well-marbled steak. We also tried another steak topped with onions and mushrooms, and they were incredibly generous with the mushrooms—definitely a plus for mushroom lovers!

Sides & Extras

To round out the meal, we ordered asparagus as a side, and it was perfectly cooked—tender with just the right amount of crunch. The portions were satisfying, and everything was well-seasoned.

Service & Atmosphere

The service at Copper Oak was attentive and friendly, ensuring we had everything we needed. The atmosphere is warm, inviting, and upscale without being pretentious—a perfect place to enjoy a high-quality meal after a night at the casino.

Final Verdict

Copper Oak Steakhouse exceeded expectations with its top-tier steaks, generous portions, and excellent service. Whether you’re celebrating a win at the casino or just looking for a great meal, this is a great place to treat yourself.

Pros:
✔ High-quality, flavorful steaks
✔ Generous portions of toppings (especially mushrooms!)
✔ Sides, like asparagus, are fresh and well-prepared
✔ Great service and relaxed atmosphere

Cons:
✖ Prices are on the higher side, but worth it for the quality

Overall Rating: 9.5/10 – A must-visit for steak lovers!

We stay overnight at Ho Chunk to break up our drive from Minnesota to Illinois. This time we stayed here the day after Christmas. Hotel and casino floor were quite busy.
We decided to try the steakhouse since it sounded like it just recently reopened.

We were there on a Thursday night, the day after Christmas. There were about 2 or 3 other tables that were occupied.

The restaurant itself is beautiful. Holiday decorations were gorgeous. It was around 7pm when we were seated.
Our server was amazing. The wine list was reasonable. The salad to start with the entree was excellent. Nice dark green, crunchy lettuce leaves. It was great. We had calamari to start as an appetizer. That was surprisingly good. Hot fresh bread was served as well and this was great.
Although it is a steakhouse, we did not order steak due to being “beef exhausted” after the holidays.
My husband has the salmon and I ordered fettuccine Alfredo with chicken. The salmon was good. My fettuccine was not. The chicken was weird – rubbery and chewy. I piled it all on a separate plate. I had a few bites of the entire meal but that was it.

All in all, I would go back and try this restaurant again.

Prices were decent.

In town for deer season and decided to try my luck at blackjack. Did well enough to treat myself to a fancy dinner. I had the French onion soup and the jumbo seared scallops, plus a Manhattan to wash it down with. Food and drink were excellent. My server, Olga, was very sweet and attentive.

Only complaint is that I’d like to see some more whiskey options on the menu.

Hands down, best kept secret in the Baraboo / Dells area. The food is always incredible and has great portions. Salads and bread service come with each meal— salads are always very fresh and bread is addicting! My husband always opts for the 10oz filet and gets it blue cheese encrusted, while I like to try the chef’s specials. Both of which, we have never been disappointed with! The prices are extremely fair for the quality and portions. And, because it is such a best kept secret (for now) we’ve never encountered a wait to be seated.

We sat next to the chef earlier at a local breakfast place. He ended up beating us to the punch buying the Vietnam veteran at the end of the table his breakfast after he left, we learned from the waitress that he was the head chef at Copper Oak Steakhouse where they use a plancha grill and decided we had to see it for ourselves.
We came here on Wednesday night and it was one of the most incredible dinners that we’ve ever had. We had king cut prime rib and an aged 21 day bone-in ribeye. The mushroom risotto is a must have, but everything was phenomenal. Maria was our server and Daniel is the chef. We didn’t officially learn his name until he came out to the table to make sure that everything was to our liking. It was perfect. Five stars. We will be here again very soon. Friendly service and extremely good food!

I’m so glad we ignored the couple bad reviews and tried Cooper Oak for dinner a couple days ago since it reopened again in Ho-Chunk casino. There were 3 of us and we were seated right by the grill where you can watch your food get cooked. It was great! Our server was on point and friendly! (I’m terrible with names, but I think her name was Candace). Huge salads with your entree and warm bread to snack on. My husband said his ribeye was great and my father-in-law loved the prime rib (the special for Saturdays). Both were cooked the way they requested. I ordered the salmon salad and I ate the whole thing, so delicious, fresh and light! We got a humongous slice of carrot cake to go. It was so moist and delicious! I already can’t wait to go back! We had a really great dinner and left so full!

The wait for Copper Oak to open was worth it. A wonderful experience start to finish. From the baked French onion soup to the hot chocolate cake and ice cream everything was fantabulous! My Kansas City strip was cooked perfectly to my liking and the dry aging made for superbly concentrated flavor. My wife’s Marsala Tenderloin tips were succulent and worth a second try. We had a well paired Shiraz that completed our entrees with every sip.
Our knowledgeable server, Candice, made us feel so welcomed that there us no question about returning for meals in the future.
Do yourself the favor of dining in their comfortable yet chic restaurant.
