The chicken satay, crispy tilapia and the chicken Ka pao was absolutely spot on. But the spicy seafood fried rice could have been better.

As the mango sticky rice was out of stock 🙁 we ordered the coconut ice cream and did not at all like the experiment with ice cream on top of a hot dog bun! Would not recommend this dessert.

All in all it was a good experience! And I will definitely be back for the crispy tilapia!

A good, reliable, local spot for Thai food.

I enjoyed all the dishes I ordered and thought they were good value, with some areas for improvement. The shrimp cakes were freshly fried but a bit bland, the Penang curry was extremely flavorful but I would have liked some more vegetables, and the drunken noodles had nice fresh wide rice noodles and a good spice level, but the beef was overcooked and tough.

Service was great and attentive. It seems like their reservation system is broken – they showed as having no tables available until 9pm, but I arrived earlier and the restaurant was nearly empty. Don’t be dissuaded if the online system says there’s no tables.

Took a while to get the attention of our server and our order taken. It wasn’t busy when I went with my family but we sat for a long time before getting served water or getting utensils. However, the food was very good with a lot of flavor.

The food is delicious and came out in a good amount of time. The menu has a lot of variety. Street parking is possible. Not too busy on the early side of dinner. There is a very cute outdoor seating area, but it was too cold to use when we lived there.

Not surprising anyone, Beau Thai is a neighborhood gem, that not only makes wonderful food, but does so with kindness and community. For our latest celebration there, we held our rehearsal dinner at their Mt. Pleasant location, and it was fantastic. The food was delicious, the service was beyond generous and understanding (we had five children under the age of five). The children received custom-made coloring pages to celebrate our wedding, which were almost as big a hit as the Beau Thai Chicken. The team at Beau Thai made us feel special, even during busy Friday service, and that’s why they were the only place we considered for our rehearsal dinner. Here’s to many more celebrations – big and small– at our local.

Beau Thai was soooo gooood
I actually went back a SECOND time a couple days apart because the food was just pure divine essence. This restaurant (Mt. Pleasant neighborhood of Washington, DC) is legit *great* Thai food.

Friendly service, great “Winter Specials” menu still going on (as of March 1st, 2025), awesome brunch items, balanced dishes between veggies + salt + rice + meat, and overall elegant presentation (as well as gender neutral bathrooms for a SAFE neighborhood ️‍⚧️ ️‍ ). I love love love the food here. 10/10 stars

*Also…who knew that fried dough (Thai Donuts) with condensed milk or honey AND SHREDDED CARROTS together is *amazing*?? I certainly did not, but it is.

**FOODIE TIP… Don’t spread dome-shaped rice around the plate. It will retain its heat, as well as its moisture better for a perfect texture throughout the meal!

Dishes ordered:
1. BKK Spicy Basil Rice (w/ beef for me)…nice and hot!
2. BKK Brussels Sprouts
3. Thai Donuts ( 5, 6, 9)
4. Crispy Roti ( 7, 8)
5. Spring Rolls

️ NOTE I came without a reservation for both dinner and brunch. Plenty of tables (indoor or outdoor streatery) + indoor bar space, though a reservation might be good for groups. Parking is neighborhood or street parking. Columbia Heights metro station (green line ) is ~10 min walk to restaurant and street)

Highly recommend adding this restaurant to your list if exploring NW DC. ❤️

Quality, tasty Thai food served by a friendly team. Great options for vegetarians. Two of us ate on a weekday for lunch, and there wasn’t much rush. Conveniently located in Mount Pleasant, the outside dining was comfortable, and the street not too busy. I had the drunken noodles, which was served in more than ample portions and quite tasty. Would go again when in the area.

A wide selection of delicious Thai dishes with generous portions around ~$17.

You can’t go wrong with their classic pad thai which I prefer to order with chicken, although their other dishes such as their lemongrass chicken and duck rolls are also items I would recommend!

There are many tables inside for smaller parties, and even an outdoor patio area near the road.

The serving staff was very nice and check up on us well and our food was served to us very quickly. I look forward to coming back and trying some curries next time

I’ve been a long-time fan of the Beau Thai location in Shaw, and their Mount Pleasant outpost is just as delightful. I visited this location for a Thursday night dinner with a few friends, and we had a wonderful time. There were quite a few other parties there, but the space is quite large so it didn’t feel overly crowded or loud. The service is remarkably efficient, so you can usually start eating within 15 minutes of ordering. We enjoyed a delicious spread including the yellow curry, pad see ew, and drunken noodles, all with either tofu or shrimp. The food was all phenomenal, with just the right mix of salty, sweet, acidic, and spicy. The yellow curry was a bit on the sweeter side, making it a great choice for those who prefer a bit less spice. The proteins were cooked beautifully; the shrimp was juicy and sweet, with a slight snap, and the tofu was perfectly fried and acted as a great flavor sponge, especially in the curry. My favorite will forever be their drunken noodles, but it was all outstanding.

Ordered through their website to try to directly support the restaurant. They route you through doordash anyway. They forgot part of the order so then I also had to go through doordash for support. Restaurants should be more careful about double-checking drinks and side items are included in delivery orders. It’s disappointing and frustrating. Food is a bit bland.
