They let in obvious minors especially the gentelman working on 2/27 arounf 12 with a Carhartt jacket on and I believe he was white with a combover hairstyle. What threw me off even more wa stat he obviously was letting in underage girls but seemed to turn away one underage guys….the drinks are good and the bartenders are nice, the blin era threw me off with his hostility toward me and my group and his quick attitude shift with the obviously underage group of girls behind us. Overall don’t recommend stay away from RICKS aka Minors Galore

Might be the WORST bar in ann arbor. The place was dead. and when i say dead i mean DEAD. Not only that, the bouncers made only us pay an extra 50 dollar fee for entrance which is completely ridiculous. Never, I will NEVER be returning to this bar. If you go, you might just have your night ruined. -100/10.

I’m visiting from california and the guy that checked my ID was very rude and drunk and told me they don’t accept out of state ID. Ruined my experience visiting.

According to Ann Arbor’s noise ordinance, no music or noise can be heard beyond a property line between the hours of 10pm and 7am, meaning that clubs are not permitted to produce audible noise outside their building during those times; violations can result in fines up to $500 per offense. As well as — Property line rule: Noise must not be audible beyond the property line of the club.
I live a block away and can hear everything, the base rattles my windows. ITS A THURSDAY FOR CRYING OUT LOUD. I have a 8am class. But here I am writing to you at 2:05 am. So I will personally call every day costing you $500 every time — or you FOLLOW THE LITERAL CITY ORDINANCE.

Bouncers are not trained to handle any sort of conflict, including ones that have potential to become dangerous. Witnessed a physical altercation with shoving and pushing involved between a man and a woman outside of this bar, alerted the bouncer and he did absolutely nothing about it, and then proceeded to blame me and my friends for “switching up our tune” after we had called the emergency line but decided to stop after the woman had gotten away and the man was no longer following her. Absolutely zero regard for the safety of women at this bar.

Let’s be real: it’s a college bar. The music is usually pretty solid and the drink motto is quantity over quality. If you’re coming here for high quality drinks, I would recommend you go across the street to Gar Bar. I’ve been coming here for over a year and it’s a fantastic bar if you’re a senior/junior U-M student.
The only gripe I have is the length of the Rick’s line. Supply does not match demand. If Rick’s could more effectively monitor and convey information about the line, they would make a huge profit and save students time. Longest I have waited in line is just over two hours. If you want to make sure you get in on a Thursday, I would recommend showing up at 7:00pm. Especially late in the school year.

My friends and I witnessed a domestic dispute between a man and a woman outside of Rick’s. The man was pushing the woman and was not letting her get through. We told the bouncer and he did nothing about it, and we were not in the place to do anything about it as we are all young college women, and this man looked almost 30 years old. We called the non-emergency line, but by this point, the woman got away from the man and the two of them split up, walking in opposite directions. At this point, the bouncer still had not done anything, but accused us for not chasing after the crying woman. Afterward, he asked us why we had “switched up our tune.” Appalling behavior, do not understand how these bouncers are not trained in these situations.

Recommend going with a group of 5-6 people. Keep an eye on each other and you can have a pretty good time. The floor is gross but the music is generally quite good, in my experience. There are some weirdos lurking at all times, so be careful.

If you’re looking for a very stereotypical college club atmosphere this is the place to go. Don’t expect good drinks or music though. Also, fair warning, it literally smells like a men’s locker room. Also, the line is always outrageously long and I really have never understood why.
