The food was so good. My partner and I loved it. The traditional south Indian curry was so good and had a lovely level of spice. My partners dosa was delicious and substantial (I know because I was fortunate enough to finish it off for her).

Delicious food and friendly service. The restaurant itself is lovely, beautifully decorated and very nice. We came in later in the evening after a film and it was perfect. Prices are fair and portions are good. I can really recommend the egg curry and paneer biriani! Sooo tasty

Absolutely delicious! I had the paneer masala dosa and it was SO GOOD. Travelling for work, I was just going to get a takeaway and eat in my hotel but the staff were so welcoming and the place had such a lovely vibe that I stayed and ate in. Could not recommend more. Look forward to coming back next time and trying one of the delicious looking curries 🙂

Nice place.

The dishes are excellent and the quantities are generous, but unfortunately I didn’t manage to eat my entire meal.
I recommend the coconut rice, it was very good.

Advice: I would put a bell at the entrance so that the waiter can hear new customers arriving. Because I did’t know where to go, so I have hesitated to leave.

Everything about this place is 10/10. The food, portion sizes, service, atmosphere, it’s just proper authentic South Indian cuisine and by far the best curry house in Exeter. Can’t recommend highly enough. Try it and you’ll keep going back.

Richie South Indian Restaurant is one of the best restaurants in Exeter. I highly recommend it to anyone craving or missing Indian food. You should visit this outlet; it’s surely worth the trip. With high quality and plenty of options, you’ll satisfy your appetite. Must Visit. I would like to express my special thanks to Rufus for his exceptional hospitality.

This was, without question, the worst Indian meal I have ever had. We began with the gobi Manchurian, which was completely tasteless and bore no resemblance to the dish it claimed to be. The lamb biryani was equally disappointing: it was not biryani at all, but plain pulao rice, and there was barely any lamb in it. In fact, even a simple pulao would have tasted better. They should change their biryani menu to pulao rice menu.

The Tamil Nadu lamb curry was extremely poor as well. The chilli chicken, which should contain green peppers, onion cubes, and tomatoes, arrived with only onions and two tiny pieces of chicken floating in a watery sauce. It is clear that, regardless of what you order, they simply bring out whatever they want. There is absolutely no understanding of how these dishes are actually prepared.

We did enjoy the papadoms with chutneys, and the garlic parotta, which were the only redeeming parts of the meal. We also had a bottle of wine and one large glass of wine. The bottle was good value at 16 pounds, but the large glass was absurdly priced at thirteen pounds- since they don’t have the price for large glass of wine, they charged us for two medium instead so we ended up paying 13 pounds. Be aware of this if you order wine by the glass.

The bill came to 87 , and I left feeling deeply disappointed. I am Indian, and I already have a very low expectations when I go out for Indian (I only go when my friends wants to eat Indian like this time) and it was disheartening to see how poorly these dishes were made. Even the vegetarian section of the menu was unimpressive, offering only paneer or saag options, while the other curries were vaguely listed as “vegetable curry” with no indication of what vegetables or style you might receive.
Also, it was a Saturday night and in the whole restaurant it was only us three, so it was very quiet.
Overall, this was a truly terrible dining experience. I strongly advise others not to go. I am genuinely upset about wasting eighty-seven pounds on a meal that failed at every level. They also serve dosas, vada, and idli, but we did not try these, so I cannot comment on them.

The best Indian food I have ever eaten! First time trying South Indian and I can safely say I will never eat your regular Indian restaurant again!

The flavours were amazing, the meats are nicely and individually flavoured. It doesn’t all taste then same which I find your regular Indian does. First time trying a dosa and a porati and it was incredible!

If you’re unsure because it’s new, give it ago, you won’t be disappointed! But you’ll need to wrap up warm as it is cold in there.

I have to say, this is some of the best South Indian food I’ve tasted in Exeter. This new restaurant also has a location in Torquay. The food is absolutely delicious and brings back memories of home-cooked meals. We went with open minds and were pleasantly surprised by the taste. If you’re in Exeter, you must eat here! Definitely try the Medhu vadai, Dosa, Parotta, and other South Indian dishes.
