For so far north of the east bay, I’m sure the food is nice, but why was our wait 2 hours! We had a larger party of 9, but we waited from 12:30 until 2:30. It was a Saturday during winter break, so maybe during other months they would have a shorter wait? We had to get some chicken from Safeway to deal.
Porridge and dessert egg buns were good, but overall other food was not special enough.
The servers were kind and accommodating. Communication was a bit challenging at times and we had to use translators, but they were happy to help and brought spices and soy sauce when requested.
Our server also recommended a different dish, which turned out to be a great choice and a hit at our table, so we really appreciated that.
But the food was excellent, every dim sum dish we tried was delicious. A great spot for quality dim sum.
Even on weekdays the parking is tough cos it’s so busy. But luckily the mall lot is big so you might just have to walk a bit.
The wait is the most challenging thing here. Weekends are near impossible. Even week day lunches are tough. And you gotta book them way out for Chinese new year!
Food is always very good and service is very efficient. The sea bass is a must here, I also like all their noodle dishes. And for dim sum, they are really one of the best in SL and surrounding areas. Can’t go wrong.
Inside always looks nice and clean. Great vibe for big family dinners.
I would say this is Vancouver standard.
I recommend rice noodle roll.
From the moment we walked in, the staff seemed completely indifferent to our presence. We waited an excessive amount of time just to be seated, despite several empty tables being visible. Once we finally sat down, we were met with a dismissive attitude every time we tried to order or ask a question. Requests for simple things like water refills were ignored until we asked multiple times, and even then, they arrived with an air of annoyance.
The most shocking part, however, was being nickel-and-dimed for basic condiments. This place actually charges for soy sauce and chili oil! It feels incredibly cheap and tacky for a restaurant to charge for items that are considered standard and complimentary everywhere else.
It’s a real shame because, as I said, the food itself was fantastic—some of the best dim sum I’ve had in a while. The kitchen staff clearly know what they are doing. But excellent food simply cannot compensate for such a poor front-of-house experience and the stingy practice of charging for condiments.
I really wanted to like this place, but with so many other great dim sum options in the area that offer both quality food and basic hospitality, I won’t be returning. The management seriously needs to train their staff on customer service and reconsider their chintzy condiment policy.
