Super fun karaoke on Saturday nights. The bartender is a gem. The place has a huge fireplace, outside aria, and a pool in the summertime. Locals hang out and sing on the weekends during the colder off season months.

This is the hideaway joint of the city. It’s located inside a hotel and when I tell people about it they say “where?”. The staff are friendly, it’s generally filled with old folks who are locals, and they have video lottery. Drinks are cheap also!
This place also has a casino in it. Machines are hit or miss but worth it to sit and push a button mindlessly at minimum bet. This is attached to a hotel. In the summer the pool is open and you can sit outside and drink. Highly recommend this place!

When we go to Rapid City for business or to visit a relative, we always stop at the Sun. The lounge is very low key with lots of regulars (mostly older professional people) showing up around 4:30 to 5pm. If you arrive on a Friday, they might be having a potluck or be celebrating someone’s birthday. Everyone is invited to partake. There are 10 to 12 machines available if you like to gamble. Of course, the bar is well-stocked… and the employees are friendly and make sure you are served quickly and well. There is a round fireplace in the middle of the lounge which provides a warm, cozy atmosphere in Winter. In warm weather you can take your drinks and appetizers to outside seating on their patio.

We just love this little dive. Something about it brings you back about 30 years. The Open fire-pit is great for conversation and a nice warm Toddy on a cold day. Drinks are strong and the staff is usually on point!
