Good atmosphere in the cellar downstairs. The bartenders were very nice and accommodating. Appetizers were decent. The truffle fries were good. I would probably skip the nachos when I go back. The burger was exceptional. Definitely worth visiting just for the burger. I will say that I found it a bit strange that our martinis were not completely full when we were served them. Never seen that before. Prices were on the more expensive side for the drinks.

Wonderful lunch! We are new to the area and drove by this spot a few times and decided to give it a try, so glad we did! The French onion soup is beyond delicious. It’s my favorite soup and I consider myself an expert, the broth is rich and flavorful with wonderful herbaceous notes. The duck poutine was hearty and yummy with what I believe are fresh cheese curds. They even had a children’s menu with homemade chicken fingers, that were delicious by anyone’s standard. The turkey Reuben was also very yummy. The staff was attentive and kind. The restaurant was a bit too dark for lunch hours but we had a nice time and will come back.

My husband and I would eat the The Cranford Hotel when we were dating!
Always enjoyed their French onion soup and hamburgers!
It’s been awhile but this past weekend we went to the Cranford Hotel!
Busy Saturday night!
They don’t accept reservations for parties less than 7.
We waited about 45 minutes before being seated!
Our Server Izzy was great!
Of course, I ordered the French onion soup and hamburger!
Yum!!
Enjoyed the marshmallow chocolate chip bread pudding!!
Love the fireplace!
Warm cozy vibes!!
Street parking, check meter hours.
See you soon!

The Hotel has been a staple of Cranford for many years now. I’d give it a 4.25 if Google allowed it. For starters, it has the best outdoor dining seating in town; right near the clock in the heart of downtown Cranford, lots of foot traffic and great people-watching, on a very nice brick sidewalk patio, partially covered by an awning. Everyone on the staff was courteous and helpful. The service is always solid, but perhaps lacking a bit of polish. We’ve never had any issues though. The food is in the good to very good range. The nachos are a slam dunk, the burgers are big and juicy, and my wife loves the reuben. The menu is a bit scatter—brained, favoring a duck breast entree and removing their fan favorite Buffalo wings for example, but everything I’ve ordered here I’ve enjoyed. The Cranford Hotel is firmly in my family’s restaurant rotation.

The menu was limited and when I asked if the shrimp and grits could be modified to not include pork, it comes with bacon on it, I was told it wouldn’t be an issue. The dish came out with bacon on it and when I asked that it be remade without bacon or pork products as requested it ended up taking about 20 minutes while everyone else had their food. The portions were very small for the price and my friends dishes were mediocre as well. The $15 garlic shrimp appetizer had ony 5 small shrimp. The side of veggies was bland and not cooked well.
The redeeming factor was that due to all the issues with my meal the manager comped the entire meal. The staff were also pleasant.
In a town with lots of options I would say find a different place to have a better experience.

we ordered the hotel nachos… market fish… grilled turkey reuben… we also had a couple of drinks each… the nachos were hard… kind of it was short of frying time… they tasted okay… the market fish i was told was a whole fish but fillet was actually half a fish… it was fine except for like a squash puree that really didn’t jive that well with the fish… the drinks/cocktails were also just okay… the last thing i want to mention is the service… our server was very flat affect and really impacts the mood negatively… as if we were not welcome there… my wife was reading some of the other reviews and she also saw what was most likely the same observation of our server… i’m giving it 5 stars for the ambiance as it’s really a warm quaint place…

The Cranford Hotel is one of my favorite places, and I highly recommend it! Upstairs is a wonderful restaurant, with a view of bustling downtown Cranford. Downstairs is the charming pub area, with a bar and table seating, complete with a working fireplace. The food is great, and the atmosphere is even greater. And the staff is fantastic! If you’re meeting friends for food and drinks, it is the perfect spot! Also great for family gatherings!

The restaurant was really nice and had a cozy atmosphere. The food was good — I’m vegetarian and really enjoyed my meal. I also went with friends who ordered different dishes, and they all said the food was very nice as well.

First time at the Cranford Hotel Restaurant & Pub. It was highly recommended by someone… apparently there are two different bars, but we went on a Wednesday night, so only the upstairs bar is open during the week nights, wasn’t too packed, so was easy to find a seat at the bar. The blood Orange margarita I ordered was on point, the bartender was very nice.
We ordered the pulled pork sandwich with sweet potato fries which was very good, and then the cheese board, which could use some improvements, but wasn’t horrible.
Overall the atmosphere was nice, I loved the hanging plants, (yes I’m a dedicated plant mom and really appreciate things like that), and everyone who worked there was nice and friendly.
I may have given this restaurant and pub a 5 star review if I had went on a weekend night and been able to experience the downstairs bar which I heard was a lot of fun, and a younger crowd.
Overall, would recommend giving this place a try if you’ve never been … it was a nice and relaxing vibe.

Great food and a nice atmosphere, especially in the Cellar.
Update: went last night again and the wife and I had a lovely date night. The French dip was really good and so was her burger. The drink is something called barrels and bushels. Very tasty
