Stopped by while visiting Yellow Springs, between lunch and dinner. Staff was friendly, service was fast, and the food was really good. I had the pulled pork, Mac and cheese, and baked beans and would recommend them all. The pork was especially good-tender and flavorful. The inside vibe was totally different than the outside, I was surprised with how nice it was. Very welcoming and a great atmosphere.

We went between lunch and dinner so it was not busy at all. Our food came out fast. We ordered the ribs and the sliced brisket. The brisket was good, but the ribs were very dry. The peach baked beans were very bland and the coleslaw was very vinegar forward. Neither to my liking. The Mac and cheese was fantastic, highly recommend it. I got the hot BBQ sauce, I did not care much for it. It really just tasted like hot sauce without BBQ sauce. The staff was very friendly and inviting, and it was very clean. We plan to return to try other items on the menu. Will update my rating once we do that.

My family and friends were passing through YS, and luckily, we stopped here to eat. The BBQ was cooked perfectly, and the kids’ meal macaroni and fries were a huge portion . We ate a total of 30 wings and ordered food to go, it was amazing. I highly recommend the ribs, wings, fries, greens, and pickled veggies.

At first I was disappointed that Calypso closed before I could try it, but this place impressed me! I was worried they would have no vegan options with this concept, but there were plenty of options for me. The burnt tofu ends, chimichurri slaw, and peach baked beans were delicious, lots of flavor. They also had a pulled jackfruit I did not try. My husband had the meat options and loved it as well. Will definitely be back when we are in the area!

The menu included unusual things like smoked trout, sweet potato cornbread, and miso collard greens. The trout even came out warm how much to my surprise and delight. My husband got the fall off the rib bones. Both dinners came with pickled vegetables; carrots, green beans, and little cauliflower florets. My only critique is that you would not have known that there was sweet potato in the cornbread. I highly recommend coming here.

Ordered special of the day sandwich and two sides, all were excellent. Sandwich consisted of hand breaded chicken breast sitting atop a jam of diced pork belly and pickled onions. Sides were superb….rice with a bit of onion and sweet potato and the miso greens were FANTASTIC- fresh greens in a savory broth but be forewarned, it is a bit spicy. My SO ordered pulled pork which was very smoky, very moist, very good.

Excellent and unique BBQ options in the YS area. Love the atmosphere, very low key and laid back. I worry about the business location since it is a bit south of main YS, so I hope folks will continue to support them as the food is terrific and worth your time. We WILL be back. Try the Chimchurri potato salad!

We arrived very excited to try the new BBQ place and were thoroughly disappointed. Immediately we were worried as, though it was 7 PM on a Sunday, the parking lot consisted of all of a few vehicles. The atmosphere was alright but I’ve seen nicer fast food chains and they haven’t changed much since the previous in that location. As far as service goes: the folks were nice but the food took too long to come out.
Now my biggest disappointment, the food:
While the photos uploaded by the owner have the food on these beautiful plates, we were given food on what might as well have been prison trays. All of the food was lukewarm or cold, especially my chicken which they must’ve tossed in the oven on high for 10 minutes because it was damn near raw, had an insane amount of cartilage, and the skin was tough. The Texas toast seemed like it was tossed on the grill from the fridge for about 2 minutes before it was sent out. The brisket was dry and the Peach Baked Beans sounded interesting but tasted and looked mediocre at best. With all that said, the Tofu and Macaroni was well plated and decent, though that was likely the only dish I could say such for.

We finally gotto the Smokehouse and my wife (who is also vegetarian) and I were blown away. First off – BEST BRISKET I HAVE HAD IN A LONG TIME! Perfectly cooked, juicy, just the right amount of smoke, and fall apart tender. Their home made sauce was great but the brisket did not need it it was so juicy and flavorful. TOFU Burnt Ends! My wife, the vegetarian, thought they were great and I thought they were great. I like Tofu grilled, but this take with seasoning and such was just an amazing option for folks who don’t eat meat. This means my wife and I can go get BBQ together and she can get more than Mac and Cheese. The sides were great. The portions were generous and the staff was wonderful. Take a drive and check this place out. I even liked the pickled vegetables and I am not a vegetable guy. I can’t wait to try some of the other items on their menu.

There’s a limited menu, but everything is excellent. It’s a barbecue place! So if you like barbecue, you will like this place. It is a simple place inside. But it definitely has the feeling of Yellow Springs. Also they do a really good job on to go!
