As an added note, my friend was trying to order a hot dog for his kids and asked how big the hit dog was. Was it big enough for two toddlers to share or would he need two? No one at the counter could answer that question. They offered to show him the bun length, but not the actual hot dog itself. Strange.
I really wanted to enjoy this experience, but when I can get a better burger with endless fries at a national restaurant for less cost? This one guy won’t be taking his family to Five Guys.
Ordered Bacon Cheeseburger, Cheeseburger, and small French Fry.(Small is the way to go, feeds two people easily.)
Our food was served hot and fresh. Didn’t take long either. Grand total was $36 for two people.
I had a deeply frustrating visit to Five Guys at Pacific Commons. As someone with dietary restrictions, I always check allergen information before ordering. Shockingly, the staff seemed completely unaware that their own restaurant provides an allergen and nutrition chart. I had to specifically request it, and even then, the staff member appeared confused and unable to understand basic English.
The chart clearly stated that their fries do not contain gluten, yet the staff insisted otherwise without even reviewing the chart. When I asked to speak to the manager, the situation worsened. The manager also struggled with English and instead of addressing my concern, both employees spoke in Spanish in front of me for several minutes. Eventually, the staff member relayed that “everything has gluten,” contradicting their own printed materials.
This lack of communication, disregard for accurate allergen information, and overall rudeness made for a very unpleasant experience. I do not recommend this location, especially for anyone with food sensitivities or who expects basic professionalism.
The place was really clean and looks like it was really taken care of. Kudos to the team here.
On the flip side, the food didn’t quite match up to my high hopes, which were fueled by all the fantastic things I’d heard about this place. Unfortunately, the food ended up being more on the average side of things.
The Cajun fries were tasty, although they leaned a bit toward the softer side. I couldn’t help but wish they came with some kind of special sauce – something more than just the usual ketchup. I’d rate the fries a 4 out of 5.
Now, onto the burger adventure. The bun sadly turned out to be quite soggy, and despite the burger’s smaller size, it managed to create quite the mess. However, in terms of flavor, I have to say it held its own and earned a respectable 4 out of 5 in that department.
