Not sure why people hate on this place, this is my 3rd time here and have enjoyed it each visit. Service is very prompt and friendly. Sushi is great quality and well presented. But we mostly come here because they are so kid friendly! Great kids menu and an awesome play area which you can easily see your kids enjoying while you eat. If you have kids under the age of 5, I’d highly recommend this place.
Some tips:
Go early or make a reservation to get seated near the kids play area if you have kids.
Ring the bell on your table for service.
Their daily specials are usually good.

Dec 30, 2025 – This was my second visit to Toku Japanese Restaurant at Lansdowne Centre in Richmond for lunch. Overall, the food quality is good and everything tastes fresh. The tea is hot and flavourful. Service is acceptable, though at times I could barely hear the server because she spoke very softly.
The miso soup was a bit on the salty side—cutting back slightly would make it better. The sashimi was fresh, and they provided a generous amount of ginger and wasabi, which I appreciated.
On one of my two visits, I had to wait about 5–8 minutes for a server even after pressing the call button. I understand they may be busy, but it does make me wonder if they’re understaffed. On the positive side, parking at Lansdowne Centre is plentiful, which is definitely convenient.

This is my goto sushi place in Richmond!! Not all places have red tuna and. This is one of them!!! It was super fresh that day!!the sockeye was also super delicious. They usually have 2-3 sushi masters behind the counter and all seemed pretty experience!!!

I came to this restaurant twice within one month.
First, i had lunch with my friends. Food was delicious, fast service but staff were too busy and they didn’t deliver good customer service because lunch time was a busy time for them.
Second time i came with my husband for an early dinner. The restaurant was quite, less customer, fast service, food was awesome and the staff did serve us with friendly face and smile.
This restaurant is huge, lots of table, and good atmosphere. I’ll definitely come again.

Food quality has gone down since I started going to this restaurant several years ago. The tuna in my don was fishy, the hamachi and toro were fine. The rice didn’t get mixed properly, some bites are sour (the vinegar), some bites are plain rice.
I hope it was just a bad day in the kitchen but not the general quality of the food has gone down.

It’s a good place for it’s worth. The ingredients are most of the time inconsistent, but mostly somewhat fresh. On some occasions, service may be a bit slow. Overall, I would come here like about once a month.

This was my first visit and I was impressed by the spacious dining area. The staff seemed very hardworking, constantly moving around to take care of customers. The food portions were generous and I was lucky to enjoy the weekend promotion. Our server Mei was very kind and attentive. I would be happy to come back again, especially for a beer next time!

Tried their steak yesterday, server said they use flat iron for the steak, it’s so juice and tender $26.95 for a dinner steak with soup, salad, rice and a prawn skewer, I found this very valuable
