We just recently relocated to VA from St. Pete. Fl so we are big seafood eaters. I thought I was never going to find blue crabs In VA, then I came across this place. Its was AWESOME SAUCE!! The crabs where so good and fresh tasting I felt like I was in FL. The chef is amazing and very nice, he came to our table to see how the food was, our waitress was great and very attentive. I would recommend this place to anyone look for good seafood and a caring staff. Thank you, we will be back.

From the outside, it looks like a “hole in wall” restaurant, but that’s far from the truth. It has an modern interior with a staff and atmosphere to match. I’m particular about my seafood and they didn’t let me down. Short of being on the coast they prepare and present seafood very well. While had the Salmon and loved it, my friend had the fried cod, it was good as well. Many others that I saw seemed to love the crab legs.

They offer all you can eat. Notice …. Eat what you order, they charge you extra for food wasted. You won’t want to leave anything.

This is a must try seafood resturant!

Overall good. Oysters on the half shell were very good. My lamb chops were very good, but portion size was smaller than I prefer. The amount of meat was equivalent to one pork chop. Others with me got the scallops and they were very good. The staff seemed a bit unorganized and not able to keep up with tables. I expect that will get better with time as they were busy.

Food is very overpriced. Though the food does arrive well seasoned and very hot the seafood, in particular the snow crab legs, were not fresh. The meat was dried out in the shell and did not slide freely out when cracked. Though all of the food is extremely pricey (some meals are $125+) the all you can eat option has increased in price from $39.99 to $49.99 and any food you do not (or cannot) finish is now weighed and charged $30/lb extra. Of course sharing is not allowed and the owner watches you eat on hidden cameras to make sure that you don’t (creepy). I was very bad and gave my son a few mozzarella sticks and about 8 shrimp. My husband sent back the cheesecake he ordered because it was flat, very dense, and dried out. They used a stock photo on the menu that the actual item looked nothing like. Because of the sharing thing the owner would not remove the dessert from the bill and no one told us this until we questioned it. The owner wouldn’t even come speak to us and it was relayed through the waitresses, one of which was rather snotty when queried. Though we were completely in the wrong I felt it was handled very badly. I would have paid for the food I shared but the way it was handled was unprofessional. I feel like we can’t go back again anytime soon because of this. I can’t comment on how well/unwell their business is doing but in the 2 hours we were there there were only two other customers in the entire restaurant so I don’t really know whether they can afford to alienate customers.

As for the atmosphere, the decor is better suited for Captain D’s than for a restaurant where one dish can cost hundreds of dollars. There are no fewer than 5 big screen TVs spaced around the restaurant set amidst netting, mermaids, and fake fish. To cap off the tackiness of the decor there are 3 neon bubble wall panels seperating the bar area from the booth dining area. The tables are covered in a sheet of brown wrapping paper from a roll. This is not a place I would want to take a date for a special night out. I can’t quite figure out whether they are going for a tacky seafood restaurant, a sports bar, or an upclass elegant restaurant (as indicated by the price list and 2 pound leather menus). Diners beware.

Hands down the most exceptional seafood this side of the beach. Trust me, I have tried every main “seafood restaurant,” from Charlottesville to the I 81 corridor, and this is by far the best for multiple reasons. Namely, amazing quality, selection, and freshness, even at this time of year/geographical location. The steamed seafood family combo ended up being more then enough for the five of us. It included 4 types of crab, Alaskan King, Dungeness, Snow, and Blue Crab. As well as, lobster, crawfish, shrimp, mussels, cherry clams, and six choices of side dishes. Almost everything ended up being the best tasting I’ve ever encountered in the Valley. Food was prepared, much to my surprise, very fast. It is a new restaurant, so granted there is some room for improvements. However, there is not a single place where you can get this type of “mini personal family buffet,” with out driving to Richmond. The price per person ended up being less then what my family spends, per person, at Kyotos. Yet the selection and quality remained top notch. Please support this new restaurant and keep it around for, selfish old, me to have a nice place when the seafood cravings start calling. Service was great and Maria, our server, was over the top. Even my 99 year old grandfather commented on her services! Couldn’t believe how nice the interior looks and the bar that is in there. Still an amazing family setting, as the bar is separate from the dinning area. I no longer drink myself, but if I did, then this seems like a great place for late night fun and food. I think they are open late every night of the week. Wow, I didn’t realize how long this was, I must have really enjoyed Captain Crab and you will too! Best decision my family has made about food in a while!

I ate here last night. We shared one of the combo dinners, which was mediocre at best. However my main complaint is with the service. We were there for at least 15 mins before we received drinks or menus, and it took over an hour after that for our food to arrive. Not to mention we only received one drink refill the entire time, as our waitress was nowhere to be found. All in all we were there for nearly 2 hours. I could understand if they had been busy, but there were only a few other tables, 3 of which had been there long before we arrived. I was not impressed by any part of my experience there.

My husband and I split a massive combo dinner here. $56 for a literal mountain of King crab legs, crayfish, and mussels in a Cajun garlic butter sauce, came with three sides (not counting the corn and potato in the boil) all washed down with $5 Moscow mules on happy hour. It’s a fun place, great service, and stellar food even for someone who’s picky about seafood.

Keen on seafood so when we saw that this place had changed from Italian to a seafood joint we had to give it a try. Very glad we did. I had the crabcakes and found them to be very good. Plenty of crabmeat and well cooked, not overdone as I find is frequently the case. The missus had the dungeness crab and also enjoyed it.
Decor is a little outre but who goes to a restaurant to stare at the walls?
Staff were attentive and helpful. Also well trained in the art of making sure your mouth is full before asking how things are 🙂

Got the same thing three times and all three times it was different…I feel cheated Overall the taste if the food was great. The service varied each time. One server was awesome. Then i had a server actually tell us “im gonna bring you some bags so you can start wrapping up bc we can’t go home until you go home” !?!?!? Who does that?!?!
Ordered the crab legs once with my husband….it came with two snow crab sections and everything else was crawlfish and corn……we didnt even want crawlfish we only came for crablegs and barely got any!
