Very nice local mexican place here in SLO. Got served some very tasty salsa to enjoy with some chips as an appetizer. I also ordered a horchata which in past experiences is a little watered down but today it was very rich and flavorfull. I ordered the mole enchiladas which were very delicous. The beans were ok however the rice was extremly addicting. Service was very fast and they always have great programs on their tvs playing something for everyone.

My dining party wasn’t hungry enough to fully enjoy the amazing dishes at this Mexican restaurant. Don’t let the name of the restaurant, Taco King, fool you. The menu items are diverse are sizable enough for those with hefty appetites. We ordered the fajitas, a burrito plate, and molcajete. Unfortunately, we couldn’t finish any of the dishes, which are priced okay for the quantity of food but I wouldn’t come here if you’re trying to grab a quick bite. I am, however, coming back to enjoy the molcajete again.

this spot was recommended to me from a local during my stay in slo and it was pretty good. really friendly service, and cool vibe. i sat outside on their patio area that had a fountain with running water which was nice.
as far as the food goes, i’m a bit spoiled with la mexican food but this place was alright. beans and shredded beef were what i enjoyed most, with the shredded chicken and asada just being alright. they have a salsa bar with a couple of very good options (try the yellow/orange habenero one on your tacos).
overall, i recommend this place and would come back if i was in town again.

Super cute place with in and outdoor dining.
The shrimp cocktail was very good, full or large delicious shrimp (they did not skimp).
Great salsa bar as well.

Amazing! This is a must stop! The service was outstanding and the food was hands down delicious. The fried ice-cream was phenomenal with the carmel! We will definitely be back. I wish I could put this restaurant in my pocket and take it home to our state. Thank you Taco King for a great lunch!

I’ve been here a couple times. Their chili verde burrito is the best I’ve had in the SLO area. Good taco and burrito place but average for the other dishes like fajitas (not homemade flour tortillas, get the corn) or enchiladas. Great service and good sized coke glasses.

My girlfriend and I have gone to every Mexican restaurant in slo and have gotten sick over half the time. Most burritos only have rice beans and meat and if you ask for everything they still dont give guacamole or sour cream. The restaurants are skimpy with their chips and salsa and even charge for their chips. Taco King is a different story all together. If you have been to Mexico you will immediately notice this restaurant is fashioned as an upscale restaurant in Mexico. Service is phenomenal and every time I have been there before I can think we need more chips and salsa or we need a drink refill one of the servers will come by and take care of it. They have a massive menu and Im gonna try em all once I get sick of their beef fajitas, which are the best in the county and reasonably priced. I recommend you save yourselves the money, stomach aches, and frustration of searching for good Hispanic food. I know this sounds over the top like a paid ad but this review is a result of so much frustration looking for a good burrito or fajita. Ive wasted a ton of money and dinners as im a burrito eater and I could’ve just come here instead of all the other nauseous attempts of burritos.

One key metric for Mexican food restaurants is the salsa bar…be careful here, you will love the variety of delicious salsas. You will be tempted to over eat chips and salsa. The value is outstanding as far as portion size and quality of the menu. Highly recommend.

We came in to SLO to get away for the weekend. While looking for a place to eat… we landed on Mexican food bc …c’mon… that’s always the Go To meal when eating. We ordered on a Saturday night a couple hours before they closed. They in fact do deliver but u just missed their driver. Our hotel wasn’t only but a mile away so I decided to drive there to pick it up. The young man who took my order was courteous and professional… and all our food was done with love. When I arrived at Taco King, the place looks like it would be a good place to eat, drink and be merry but if course covid had to F that up. Lol. But, I parked, walked in and he verified my order. He was very friendly and offered me plates, utensils and salsa. The food was delicious! I’ll definitely be coming back here to order again and hopefully, have a proper drink when the Erf opens back up to normal… Did someone say micheladas!

Best Mexican food in SLO! They family that runs this place is always friendly and ready with a friendly “Hey Muchachos!!!” I love the wet carnitas burrito, my wife loves their enchiladas, and my son, well, he eats everything. Endless chips, salsa bar, what else can I say?
