In the heart of the Theater District just off 8th Ave. on 46th St, the restaurant is a celebrated Broadway fixture. A New York Institution, Frankie & Johnnie’s Steakhouse is the longest running show on Broadway (as well as one of the city’s oldest continued dining establishments) having first opened as a speakeasy in 1926.
Polished, retro-style restaurant serving a menu of aged steaks, cocktails & wine.

So I came here to celebrate Valentines and my anniversary. I read the reviews and never was lead wrong when doing so until today. First off for the price point I real do expect a great meal. However, this wasn’t the case. My meal started off with Shrimp that was good in size but pretty chewy and the sauce tasted like the kind that comes packaged with a store bought frozen shrimp ring. Now we moved onto the crab cakes which had no flavor or texture depth to it. I’ve had it several times at other steakhouses so I know the flavor profiles.
Now to the side dishes and main course. We ordered truffle fries (they ran out of Mac n Cheese) and cream of spinach . Both lacked flavor and were not visually pleasing. Last, but certainly not least the porter house for two. I ordered it medium rare as all good steak lovers should. How was the steak burnt on the outside and more rare than expected?? Plus it was very fatty so I didn’t get “steak” more so fat. The whole experience was disappointing and clearly a quality product and attention to details was lost here. The final piece was the silverware was missing pieces from both steak knives handles. They need to do better.

Frankie and Johnny’s NYC was an incredible dining experience from start to finish. Our waiter, Arrow, was absolutely amazing—attentive, friendly, and truly elevated the night.
The espresso martini was delicious and perfectly balanced. I ordered the filet, which was seasoned and cooked to perfection. For sides, the Lyonnaise potatoes and asparagus were excellent complements to the meal.
We finished with the apple strudel à la mode, and it was the perfect way to end the evening. Everything was top-notch. Highly recommended and can’t wait to return!

Frankie & Johnnie’s on 46th delivered a classic NYC steakhouse experience. We shared the porterhouse for two, jumbo shrimp cocktail, Brussels sprouts, and the lyonnaise potatoes—everything was cooked perfectly and full of flavor. I also had a couple of excellent cocktails at the bar. Service was warm and professional, getting a last-minute reservation on OpenTable was surprisingly easy, and casual dress felt totally welcome. An iconic, no-stress spot that’s incredibly convenient to Times Square. Would absolutely return.

Frankie and Johnnie’s is an awesome Steakhouse in Times Square area. We decided to done prior to watching a Broadway show and would return in a heartbeat. The cold seafood tower was a perfect starting place. The steak has amazing with the creamed spinach and augratin cauliflower was awesome. The surprise of the night was the calves liver with onions and bacon. Totally didn’t expect that and it was wonderful. Excellent service and great location.

I came during restaurant week and it was one of the highlights of my trip! Service was fantastic, and he recommended the apple strudel for dessert which I can’t stop thinking about! It was so delicious. It’s a quiet restaurant which was nice after a busy day in NYC. Steak and mashed potatoes were perfect.

We are three from Canada, and made a reservation in advance. We were arranged a small round table next to the stairs. I don’t like the spot but didn’t say anything. Right after we finished our steak and still have 1/4 portion lobster macaroni and cheese, 2 waiters asked us 3 times if we are finished!!! There’s no one waiting for the table! The waiter who cleaned table dropped the big steak knife between my daughter and my husband accidentally! We ordered the coffee and ice cream at the end, coffee au lait tastes not good. McDonald regular coffee is better.

Had a Valentine’s day dinner, atmosphere is very nice, hostess tried to sit us in a cramped corner tightly next to another couple, while there were plenty of tables available, it was only 5pm. We asked to move and she obliged. We both found it odd. The waiter was great, so nice and attentive. Underwhelmed by the food…..rib-eye for two, zero seasoning, we had to salt and pepper a lot. I don’t understand cooking with no seasoning. We asked for medium and the middle was cooked perfectly and the ends were too raw. Did have a nice taste of being cooked in butter and fire. Potatoes au gratin, zero salt, had to salt ourselves. Pecan pie and ice cream was delicious. Waiter and the wine made it a great experience. I personally wouldn’t go back except for a drink at the bar.

This centrally located NYC steakhouse delivers a solid dining experience. We had the veal and lobster ricotta ravioli, which was flavourful and well-prepared. The service, however, was the real standout—attentive, friendly, and perhaps better than the food. The atmosphere is classic New York, with walls covered in vintage movie posters and black-and-white photos that give it an old-school charm. It’s definitely on the pricey side, but that’s expected for the area. Note: a 20% tip is already included in the bill, so keep that in mind when settling up.

Staff is kind and humorous. Had short conversion about meal, male staff gave me good information and suggestion.
Ordered the T-bone steak, and it was so tasty and temperature was perfect.
They also have pork chop and lamp chop so you can chose many selections.
Thank you!
I had no booking but could take a counter seat. Coz it was lunch time of weekend.
If you wanna get the table, should you make a bookingin advance, especially on weekend.
