One of the good sign of simple but great clean food is look at menu options. A lot for time a place with very limited menu is the one where you would have great food quality in every food you order.

This was the case here. But keep in mind the Flavors here are Karnataka style. So you can’t complain about Sambhar being on the sweeter side. Don’t walk here expecting spicy food.

I tried Ponnugulu and Podi Masala Dosa and I enjoyed it thoroughly.

Used to be a place I loved going to, used to hit the Bangalore nostalgia just right.

But recently the food taste has dropped in comparison to what it used to be. The benne masala dosa is very soft and not the usual hard crispy on the outside.
And the masala no longer has onions and is very lemony. Don’t label the item as “Benne Masala Dosa” if you’re just going to serve a regular dosa.

The taste of the dosa has also dropped with the filter coffee taste. Honestly very disappointed, the whole marketing with the South Indian Karnataka theme and missing out on the flavors left me disheartened.

The food tastes ok, however it’s no longer authentic

Also the prices shot up, the chef changed, the interior changed, all good for the enterprise, but taste change is not good for the customers

As others have said, this is a hidden underrated gem for good South Indian breakfast dishes. Tried them on thanksgiving day, and while short on staff the food was delicious!

This place is must try for Karnataka style breakfast. The sambar felt authentic and reminded me of Udupi restaurants back home and the preparations like Puliyogare, Benne dosa, and Uddina Vada are a must try. The special open dosa disappointed and wouldn’t try again.

The restaurant is a “hole in the wall”, further away than most Fremont restaurants but a must visit.

This is my fave dosa spot lowkey may even be better than Mylapore. I ALWAYS get the Ghee Podi Masala Dosa. All their dosas are benne dosas and so soft like pancakes and taste good too. HIGHLY RECOMMEND if u haven’t tried already!!

Edit and update ; this is not related to Rameshwaram Cafe room Cafe in Bangalore I just got a confirmation from the main folks in Bangalore in case someone wanted to know

Rameshwaram Cafe is one of those places that feels more hype than substance. The setup reminded me more of a student mess than a proper restaurant, run by what looks like a group of enthusiastic bachelors.

Ambience: Very basic. If you value ambience as much as food (like I do), this place won’t impress.

Food:
• Tatte Idli – soft and decent, worth trying once.
• Vada – underwhelming, not as flavorful as expected.
• Dosa & other South Indian staples – honestly, I’ve had much better in other Fremont-area restaurants.

Service: Slow. When you’re hungry, waiting this long gets frustrating.

Presentation & Utensils: looks Organic made out of natural material ( plus point ) . But plastic spoons, which really takes away from the restaurant experience.

Update: I was under the assumption that this is related to Rameshwaram Cafe in Bangalore , it is not I just got a confirmation from the Rameshwaram folks in bangalore , in case someone is wondering.

Overall: Nothing special. There are definitely better spots nearby for authentic South Indian food with better ambience and quicker service. If you’re in a rush then ok or if you are looking for a pleasant dining experience, I’d skip this one.

And note Sambar and Tea served in the same type of cup who does that !

Finally decided to give Rameshwaram Cafe a shot after hesitated seeing all the videos on social media about the heavy ghee in their dishes. To our surprise, our expectations were flipped! We really enjoyed the tiffins. Tried the Lemon Idly – while it wasn’t super lemony, the tadka was a great touch. The Special Open Masala Dosa is a nice twist – definitely worth trying if you’re usually into Masala or Podi Masala Dosas. Masala can be better. The Benne Masala Dosa is the best here by far – I’ve had it at other places, but this one takes the top spot. The Mini Tiffin offers a solid portion, the pongal was okay, but the vada, dosa, and kharabath were good. The Sambar Vada came steaming hot and tasted amazing – don’t miss it! The Punugulu were just alright, a bit over-fried. The Bisi Bele Bath was spot on – definitely done right. Special shoutout to the chutneys and sambar – delicious. Overall, tasty tiffins with just the right amount of oil/ghee, and all at great prices!

I ordered Mini Tiffin and loved everything on the plate. Dosa was delicious, Vada was crispy. Both the accompaniments were delicious too.

This is one of the best places that serves Bangalore style dosa in Bay area.
The prices are affordable and taste of the food is awesome.
We ordered Medu Vada,Garlic Karam Idli,Podi Masala Dosa and Benne Masala Dosa.
All the items arrived after a short wait and the dosas were perfect texture, reminded us of the dosas we ate back in Bangalore. The chutneys had good consistency and were very fresh. Idlis were soft but next time I would avoid Garlic Karam as it was raw garlic masala(kinda strong for us). Medu Vada needed to be fried a little bit more. Sambar was really flavourful and tasty.Overall the food was great and good value for money. Filter coffee was good too. We will definitely go back to taste some more dishes.

Extremely disappointed with the food. The dosa was not at all cooked — completely raw inside (attached picture). The sambar had no taste, totally bland. I also ordered the Santha bonda, and that too was undercooked and tasted awful. Totally unacceptable for basic South Indian dishes. Really hope they work on their food quality before serving customers.
