Reviews
My husband and I decided to celebrate Valentine’s Day a little early this year to skip the holiday crowds and noise, and it was the best decision we could have made. We treated ourselves to the 8-course Chef’s Table with the added wine pairing, and every second of the experience was sheer magic.
The Perfect Start
We began with cocktails that were works of art. I had the “Purple Reign,” which was strikingly beautiful and had a wonderful, frothy texture. My husband’s Four Peppers Margarita was a spicy, delicious masterpiece—not for the faint of heart, but absolutely worth it.
Expertise & Atmosphere
The service truly elevated the night. Preston was incredibly knowledgeable, guiding us through the food and wine pairings with a level of detail that made the meal feel like a curated journey. Zion, the Sous Chef, was also a highlight of our evening; his passion for his creations is clear, and he was such an entertaining and joyful person to chat with.
The Culinary Journey
As this was my husband’s first Chef’s Table experience (and my second), we were ready to be adventurous.
The Classics: The Beef and Tuna Tartare were incredibly refreshing and light.
The Surprises: I was initially intimidated by the Octopus, but Preston assured us it was cooked to perfectio, and he was right.
The Standout: I was honestly a bit “scary” to try the Escargot, but it ended up being my absolute favorite dish of the night!
The Mains: Both the Duck and the Lamb were executed to perfection, rounding out a flawless progression of flavors.
Final Thoughts
If you want an intimate, world-class dining experience without the chaos of a holiday rush, I cannot recommend the Chef’s Table at Matthew’s enough. Thank you to the entire team for making our early Valentine’s Day so memorable. We’ll be dreaming of that escargot for a long time!
Service from Ryan and Jonathan 10/10.
Second courses:
Escargot 10/10 – Incredible
Tomato Corn Bisque 8/10 – Perfect, but flavor profile is strong.
Entrees:
Catch of the day 10/10 – was Chilean sea bass. The most perfectly cooked fish we’ve ever had. It was essentially a giant scallop.
Pork Chop 7/10 – Very good, carrots were incredible, but I’d try something else next time.
Sides:
Peppers 7/10. They were good but wouldn’t get again
Truffle fries 9/10. A very large portion even for two people.
Drinks 10/10. Reasonably priced and delicious.
If you have the budget to splurge on a dinner this is the place to go. Under $200 for two drinks, two courses each and dessert.
We chose the six-course tasting menu but decided to take the last two courses to go, leaving room for the soufflé we ordered as an extra treat.
The standout dish of the night was the sea bass — perfectly cooked, moist and flaky, with beautifully crisp skin. The other courses were enjoyable, though less memorable: tuna tartare with an Italian twist (which could have been served a bit colder), ravioli with duck confit, and dry-aged pork accompanied by braised Wagyu beef eggplant. The flavors were solid and as expected for each preparation.
We took home the cheese plate and the olive cake, which we enjoyed later.
Overall, it was an enjoyable dining experience. The food was good, the service was exceptional, and while the ambience was average, the warmth and attentiveness of the staff made the evening feel special.
PA. I will order from the menu in my next visit
They offer valet parking. Reservations are required. Dress is business casual.
They have a bar. The menu offers a wide variety of high-quality beef, fish, seafood and duck. The presentation of the food is of the quality that you would expect of an upscale restaurant. The service was professional and not intrusive. Overall I would give it a 10 out of 10. My favorite dish was the homemade pasta and a light sauce with shredded crab meat. It made me think I was back in Italy. The portion sizes are perfect. I skipped the dessert and had a White Russian.
Staff was always nearby to prepare for the next course and ask for anything we needed. The food was outstanding! I was worried about small portions, but everything was just right. 10/10 would recommend!
We were seated promptly when we arrived, a little early. The ambiance is pleasant, if slightly noisy. A small table was brought for my wife to place her purse, which is a nice touch.
The service staff were impeccable the entire night, and explained the menu, made recommendations, and took out drink order while we decided what we would like for dinner. Water and a fresh bread selection was served. Drinks came (delicious!) and we placed our order. We had an appetizer course, dinner course and dessert. Everything we ordered was a tastebud delight. The entire evening was flawless; food, service and enjoyment. Best restaurant experience I have had in many years.
I highly recommend Matthew’s Restaurant!
The service was impeccable, this was not our first time there, it has exceeded our expectations as always. We missed the tasting menu the first time we went, and we vowed to go back after a great experience. This time, we went and had the tasting menu… It was not exactly as expected. However, Our server, Matt, we joked with him that he must’ve just got hired because of his name… Was a dream. Matt was tuned into our experience from the beginning and did his thorough job of ensuring we were happy at every step, We almost had to say nothing for him to understand us. He brought Amanda in, the manager when we were a tad bit less than satisfied from the menu and she brought our expectations to another level. Thank you so much Amanda and Matt, you all made our experience unforgettable, on an unforgettable night
