I enjoy this authentic spot for Mexican food. The service is great and the staff is friendly. I had steak tacos my first time and enjoyed them a lot. I don’t remember the name of my second dish but it’s pictured and SO good. Did I mention the portion sizes? Amazing! We were blown away with the queso with chorizo it was perfectly made. There’s plenty of seats and parking is easy to find as well.

The food at El Sombrero Mexican Restaurant was absolutely amazing. My special order of chicken fajitas was cooked to perfection, tender, flavorful, and served sizzling hot. Every dish we ordered was delicious and full of authentic flavor.
The restaurant is extremely clean, the atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the staff is friendly and attentive. Prices are very reasonable considering the excellent quality and generous portions. Everything was fresh, hot, and beautifully presented.

Our server May was great
My husband had the chicken fajitas and it was lunch size but ample serving. It came still sizzling and he said it was one of the best he’s had.
Their guacamole was excellant and normally I do not like quac.
I had a chicken burrito with rice & beans (I had ordered the beef & they screwed it up and made it chicken). I said I would keep the chicken it was ok. It was the lunch portion and was good but the chicken had no seasoning and was just ok.
The chips were good as was the salsa which had a little bite to it.
We will go back

Everything was perfect this evening eating at El Sombrero Mexican restaurant. The server was just as great as the food. The prices are very reasonable. My husband and had a double chicken fajita. It was the best and a generous helping. Also the restaurant was extremely clean!

Wow. Wow, wow, wow!
Just when you thought the local Mexican food scene couldn’t get any better (we have an embarrassment of riches here in West Michigan), along comes El Sombrero, with their unmatched variety of fajitas and the very best horchata we’ve had in the state.
My companion and I had the birria bowl and carnitas fajitas, the latter of which has crisp, seared pork, sauteed onions, and sauteed jalapeño peppers (served with tortillas, beans, rice, pico de gallo, guacamole, and lettuce). Both were stellar — we had difficulty stopping and taking some home!
Service, too, is outstanding. Friendly, personal, and knowledgeable, our server was patient (it took us a few minutes to take in the voluminous menu) and got everything to the table hot and perfectly timed. The Fiestaware is a nice touch, too.
Toward the end of the meal, my companion looked at me and said, “Okay, this is where I want to come for my birthday.”
Not that there aren’t great Mexican restaurants in Kalamazoo, Coloma, and Benton Harbor — there are. But this place — only five months old at this writing — is so good, we will be making special stops in Bangor just for the food here.

This place is AMAZING. The atmosphere was really nice. The wait-staff were patient while we looked through their awesome menu. So many choices and our tummies are not big enough for the good size portions we had placed in front of us. We will be back to try other items on the menu. I’ve lived a lot of places and have eaten a lot of Mexican food. This is THEE… Mexican restaurant everyone in the area myself especially have been craving. Amazing flavors, great portions, fair prices. Found my go to Mexican in ALL of SOUTHWEST MICHIGAN…and I’ve tried them ALL. There are good contenders out there but this one wins the championship belt hands down. Ordered guacamole dip…(freshly made and delicious) Bean Nacho Appetizers…had to try their beans…smooth, creamy beans with queso and melted cheeses! Loved their pork tamale it was served with a also delicious creamy red sauce…I don’t know who the chef is here or where they learned to cook but they’re hands down one of the best Mexican restaurants I’ve ever eaten at and with 7 grandkids at this age, you can bet I’ve eaten at a LOT. No mistakes here, they are likely in my top 3 in my 60 years on earth.

The chicken fajita quesadilla was the biggest and most delicious I’ve ever had. The tres leches cake was too die for! They put so much care into their food and their service!
