An institution in Crawford County and well worth a stop of off I79. Get a foot long with the works – special sauce and sauerkraut – you won’t be disappointed. The Smith’s hot dogs are also a local institution. Cash only though so be ready. And for desert go a little further and get a come of frozen custard at Hank’s.

Iconic, landmark, and a historic place to eat while in Meadville. It definitely lived up to the hype. We visited during lunch hours on a weekday, so there was a line to order, which is a good sign of good food. The line went at a decent rate. I ordered a footlong hot dog with the works, both my sons got sloppy Joe’s, and we got fries and drinks. Good prices on all the food and drinks. The food came out pretty quickly, and it was GREAT. One of the best tasting hot dogs I’ve ever had, seriously. Evidently, the sloppy Joe’s were great too, I don’t think either of my sons chewed much at all, just vacuumed them down. There is no indoor seating, everything is outdoor and uncovered, so we ate in our car. We visited this place at the recommendation of my mother in law, who grew up in Meadville. It was a GREAT recommendation, so worth it. We’ll go every time we visit.

Great outdoor hotdog place.
Lots of tables to sit at.
No bathroom.
You can buy their sauce and t-shirts there.
Hubby likes their sauce and brought some home with him. I get mine with ketchup and onions.

I visited here from Ohio and it was good. I like the hot dog and onion rings. Nice place to grab a quick bite. I just wished the hot dogs were beef!

We randomly found this place and instantly fell in love! The hotdogs and fries are fantastic. It’s almost like going back in time to where these types of out door restaurants were popular in the U.S and you can feel it’s 71 year history while you sit at a picnic table and enjoy the delicious food. We also found that they’re reasonably priced. We would go back in a heartbeat!

My first time visiting this cute little hot dog shop! Outdoor eating at the picnic tables with our family was easy and enjoyable. Large menu. Nice little garden area beside the tables. Our orders were correct and made fairly quickly for how busy they were. The only downside is they do not accept cards- cash only. There is an ATM directly beside the ordering windows but charges $2.50 for use.

This place was excellent. Very good food and portions at very reasonable prices. Footlong hot dogs are $5 and a meal is $9 and change. The meal include big portion of fries or onion rings and a drink. The staff was super friendly and very fast and efficient. I would definitely stop back again if in the area and I definitely recommend this place.

I tell you what. The fries are much better than the hotdogs. The hotdogs are good too, don’t get me wrong but man these fries..

The food remains consistently excellent—no complaints there. But the service is another matter entirely. It’s as if the staff have abandoned any notion of basic courtesy or professionalism. During this visit, the young woman at the sliding window made it blatantly clear that serving me was an inconvenience. Her attitude was dismissive, and slamming the window shut only underscored her lack of regard. Frankly, if the food weren’t as good as it is, I wouldn’t bother returning.
