Great Chicago themed bar near MidTown Atlanta.
I ordered the Southwest burger, medium rare, and onion straws.
The burger was cooked perfectly and the chipotle mayo was delicious without overwhelming the burger.
Service was fantastic – especially considering it was 1 bartender for the entire tavern when I stopped in. They have a great selection of beers and I opted to try a local Scottish Ale, and it paired beautifully.
Food was very reasonably priced, delicious and filling on a chilly winter day.
Will definitely be returning!

I got 10 PC wings with blue cheese and honey bbq sauce on the side. The flavor and taste is delicious. Now recently I’ve been wanting a more balanced meal and I received one when I got the wild rice and salmon with spinach so moist and delicious! Compliments to you chef don’t stop doing what y’all are doing! I wanted to go in person previously but I didn’t get to go at the time. I recently got my food through Uber Eats on 9/13/2025! One of the best meals I ever had! Pull up and support this wonderful restaurant!

This was such a little hole in the wall but so worth it! Our waitress was super helpful in helping us decide what to order. She was very catering. The food itself was some of the best I’ve had in a while! We thought it was just bar food, but we were happily wrong! The salmon was so juicy and they made the wings extra crispy and it was so good! The person I went with got the chili and he said it was some of the best he’s had. Only downside is say is if you’re looking for atmosphere, it’s not it. It’s just a dingy bar vibe.

I have never felt so ripped off in my life for a $3 “side” of chili. I thought this was my side of honey mustard that you didn’t give me (again). Nope! Its a spoonful of chili for $3! Maybe for an infant? Idk!

I am new to Atlanta, moving from Texas. I have been wanting to try different spots for food that you cannot get in Texas. I finally made it here to Black Bear Tavern, and they did not disappoint. I got the “Awesome Burger” which was awesome! The food was filling and the sweet tea was sweet! I definitely will be frequenting this place! Mary took care of me, and made it a great experience!

I wasn’t going to post another comment with my actual name however after reading the mangers response to Marie this needs to be said! We have been going to this bar for the football season. I belive we were targeted ever since we started coming The guy that approached us was absolutely Unprofessional and I hope he is not a owner or manager. If he is I pray for you cause your business will not grow if you keep treating people the way you did to us. Your waitress lied to you and that is a fact! Instead of you being a Man and talking us you came over Rude and accusing Us of something that never happened. Your waitress knew we didnt touch her! If your security guard would have seen anything like that happening in the bar that situation would have been addressed at that time. When the waitress was talking to me and not Marie she asked if I wanted a manager and I said yes. When I saw you two over there talking you came to our table talking crazy and being disrespectful. We had every right to defend ourselves. NO so called Man will never come in our face being disrespectful! We don’t bow down to man only God. I actually feel sorry for you cause Karma will strike you and her! Both of all are liars and probably have devilish ways underneath all that sheep’s clothing. Don’t get mad because you wrong and don’t have any comma sense to figure out a situation on your own. That’s what a Manager suppose to do. (If you are actually one) Then you stated another comment about us going to wait for her when she gets off? We are all professional ans strong Black Women with careers. She is not that important to Us that we would loose our integrity. God fights my battles so I’m worried about you trying to bash my name.

This tavern is very laid back. It gives you the big bar feel minus the crowd. That’s how chill the atmosphere is. You can get in @ the bar. Or you can get a table. You can’t go wrong here. There are 2 dart boards and a jukebox. There are plenty of televisions for game watching. Now that the mood is set. Lets get to the food. They offer a variety of foods. Tacos, burgers, wings, steaks and so much more. My 1st visit I ordered the 10 piece wings only. Hot with bleu cheese. They were very hot. I loved them. They went down smooth with my Budweiser. My second visit. I ordered the jalapeno burger with onion fries. The burger was loaded with flavor. It came with two different melted cheeses and plenty of jalapenos. It didn’t let me down. The onion fries was on point. A Budweiser and a shot of Glenlivet wash all my heat away. Now, the bar; It’s very well stocked. Except they don’t have cognac. Plenty of craft beers are offered. The service was ok. She was friendly and knowledgeable in her drinks.

Great food, excellent service and free parking.
We are from OTP south, came to the big city to Piedmont Atlanta. This place is across the street from the hospital. Food is really good, Tavern type food and portions are large. I tried the Italian Combo with taters. It was delicious and taters were fried perfectly. My wife had the Black Bear Wrap. It was good but light on flavor. Burger meat in the Wrap needed seasoning and need to add either more onion and lettuce or maybe coleslaw.
Overall, it’s a great experience.

A Chicago based/inspired sportsbar with great bartenders and servers, low priced alcohol/alcohol specials, good food, & great atmosphere. As a 5+ year customer & 33+ year old native of Atlanta I have a great vibe/time here every time I go here no matter what. 9/10 Do recommend .
