It’s a small, intimate place with some of the best food I’ve ever eaten, and as long as you’re not worried about the number on the check at the end of the meal, I think this steakhouse sits right in the top echelon of LA restaurants.
We started with the burrata with prosciutto and a Caesar salad. The Caesar was especially delicious, served with anchovies perched right on top of the romaine spear—such a bold, classic touch.
For the main course, I had the ravioles de trufa (truffle ravioli), and he ordered tapa de ojo (prime ribeye cap). We shared a side of creamed spinach. My ravioli was cooked perfectly, rich, and creamy—absolutely amazing. His ribeye cap was a standout: perfectly medium rare and melt-in-your-mouth tender. The creamed spinach was tasty, but we both felt it leaned a bit too rich.
We ended the night with not one, but two desserts: the bread pudding and the mascarpone. A sweet finish to a thoughtful and memorable evening.
Our server was very pleasant and attentive throughout most of the meal. Toward the end, however, we had to wait quite a while for the check. I get it—it was getting busier—but we’re not the type to linger and talk. We were ready to pay and head out.
*Parking is valet only: $15
The food is excellent across the board, with the steak being the highlight, served hot and sliced tableside. Pastas, appetizers, salads, and sides were all great, especially the beef empanadas and french fries. The warm complimentary bread served with chimichurri sauce is SO good!
Service was attentive and professional, and the live music the night we visited added so much to the experience.
Highly recommend, especially if you love steak!
What really stands out is the consistency. It’s a family owned spot and you can genuinely feel the love in every move they make. The indoor dining area is beautiful with a classic ambiance, made even better when there’s an accordion player adding to the atmosphere. The outdoor patio in the back is just as charming.
This place is one of the most underrated steakhouses in Los Angeles. Honestly, it puts Steak 48, Mastro’s, and all the big names to shame. Truly a gem.
Last month, I took my mom to Carlitos Gardel Argentinian Steakhouse to celebrate her birthday, and it instantly became one of our favorite restaurants in the city. From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed by a warm, quiet, and romantic atmosphere that made the evening feel extra special.
We decided to try as much as we could from the menu – and wow, everything was exceptional. We started with the chicken empanadas (perfectly golden and flavorful), sautéed mushrooms, creamy mashed potatoes, and buttery spinach. And the meat… oh, the meat! We had filet mignon, lamb chops, and prime ribeye – each bite was rich, juicy, and cooked to perfection. You could truly taste the quality and passion in every dish.
To make the night even more memorable, Max was the one taking care of us, and he made us feel so special. His warmth, attention to detail, and kindness elevated the whole experience.
My mom absolutely loved it – of all the restaurants I’ve taken her to, she fell in love the most with Carlitos Gardel.
We ate more than we should have, but everything was that good.
To top it all off, we ended the night with two incredible desserts: the best crème de leche dessert (sweet, creamy, and dreamy) and a refreshing, delicious sorbet that was the perfect light and fruity finish.
Definitely can’t wait to go there again! Highly recommend for anyone looking for an incredible meal and a truly special night out.
Also cleared my half drank $25 cocktail away when handing bill without asking if I was finished, seemed very rushed. Also we were sat in patio area directly under heater even though other tables were available, we had to ask to be moved as it was intense heat. Waiter seemed off and there was no thank you for the generous tip we gave
