Ordered takeout from Shahs of Kabob tonight and wanted to share some balanced feedback. I rarely write negative reviews and generally prefer to support local businesses, but I think there are a few areas here where the experience could be improved.

We initially tried placing our order by phone and were routed to an AI attendant that struggled to take the order correctly. We were told we’d be transferred to a live person, but the call disconnected and asked us to call back later, which was frustrating.

For context, we’re very familiar with Persian food and order it regularly in Toronto. This was our first time ordering Persian food in Florida, so our expectations were based on that experience.

Starting with the positives: the flavor of the Barg (veal) and Joojeh (chicken) kabobs was good and clearly well seasoned.

That said, there were several downsides. For the price point, the portions were extremely small. The Barg was super thin, the koobideh was burnt on the outside and undercooked on the inside. The grilled tomato was just a thin slice, whereas most Persian restaurants typically include a whole tomato. The onion portion was relatively large (about a quarter of an onion), which isn’t particularly useful when the rest of the plate feels skimpy.

We also ordered a Shirazi salad and mast-o-musir. Unfortunately, both items were missing from our bag, requiring a return trip to the restaurant. When I went back, I was given mast-o-khiar instead, which is a different dish. The Shirazi salad itself was very small for the $11 price tag, especially considering it’s a simple mix of tomato, cucumber, onion, and dressing.

While I can’t speak for all U.S. restaurants, in Canada the meat portions at Persian restaurants are consistently larger, and rice portions are more generous as well, which helps balance the plate. I’ve also never seen such a small portion of grilled tomato served. At this price level $87 USD (about $120 CAD) for two people, the portions and presentation felt underwhelming and make it hard to justify returning.

Lastly, I arrived for pickup based on the time provided by the system and was even a few minutes late, yet still had to wait an additional 15 minutes.

Overall, between the pricing, portion sizes, order mistakes, and wait time, the experience was disappointing, especially because we were genuinely excited to find a Persian restaurant we could order from regularly. I hope this feedback is taken constructively, as there’s clear potential here if these issues are addressed.

Super happy that they opened a Shahs of Kabob near me — even better that it’s right around the corner from my job.

I’ve tried the Joojeh and the Barg (the Joojeh is the chicken and the Barg is filet mignon).

The Joojeh (chicken) was so tender, cooked to order, and perfectly seasoned. Just writing this review has my mouth watering because I’m literally sitting in the restaurant right now waiting for them to prepare another order. I didn’t want to repeat the same dish, but I’ve been thinking about it all week.

The Barg is also a dish worth bragging about. The filet is the true star — perfectly succulent, seasoned beautifully, and incredibly tender.

I tried the hummus as well, and it’s made fresh in-house. They’re generous with the olive oil and the warm flatbread. I loved the grilled red onion with the honey drizzle — such a nice touch.

The jasmine rice is perfectly cooked, and that little bit of yellow rice on top has a buttery finish that makes you crave more. The salad is fresh and chopped small so you get the perfect bite every time.

Great place, amazing food, and Hamzah is really friendly — bonus points because he remembered me. Don’t hesitate. Come enjoy the food. They will not disappoint.

I’ll say this very slowly, as usual, I waited for my order for 35 minutes even though there were no people, a couple of people came after me, how can I go to lunch during work when I don’t even have time to eat because there are six people working in the kitchen and there is no result, I’m shocked everything is very slow and the service is terrible, the chicken is in water… seriously ? Also , the rice , the smell and the taste are just tin ! The taste of sewage without spices … terrible ! I don’t recommend this place to you, it’s better to pay $10 more elsewhere and have a delicious meal, and most importantly quickly. Have a nice day, everyone.

First time coming here, and the food was delicious. And so was the service. Food is good portions, the shirazi salad was outstanding as well.
Wish they had the tahdig, but otherwise everything was really tasty.

I ordered via a delivery service. They replaced rice with bread?!? And put a note in the bag that they were out of rice. If I wanted a wrap I would’ve ordered one. They shouldn’t have accepted the order. Then took over an hour to make-they could’ve have cooked a new pot of rice in that time.
I really wanted to love this place- my second time ordering from here and both times were terrible.

Awesome spot for halal persian food. Consistent and tasty. Located right off the main road it’s an easy pit stop from the highway or on the way to and from the beach. Glad they have expanded from their original spot in Coral Gables. Seating is perfect for parties of 2-4.

The service and atmosphere were definitely good, but the food is subpar at best. The joojeh wrap has more vegetable than actual chicken and it feels like theyre skimping out on it. Furthermore, i ordered at 7 and was told the order would take around 15 minutes, instead, we had to wait over 30 minutes to receive our takeout order. Underwhelming as I expected more, but overall it was acceptable.

Update: Pretty sure I caught a stomach bug from the food

The food here is seriously mouthwatering!!! Shakeila at the front was so welcoming, sweet, and super helpful with recommendations on what to order. Everything was fresh and absolutely delicious. I’ll definitely be back soon.

And the cheesecake? A1. The meat was perfectly tender, and don’t even get me started on the rice… it was too good!!!
