“The food is great and full of Hong Kong style taste. The service is good with the short-hair lady. A mix of HK and Mexican vibe embedded in its interior decor.

I remember growing up when this used to be Tai Wu before transitioning into Hong Kong Palace. I used to come here in the early mornings for yum cha. It was always packed and parking was a bit difficult during those times. I believe Tai Wu departed not too long ago. I was recommended to try this place out ever since it opened by close ones of mine. Finally I got the chance to for dinner, upon arrival, it was packed but luckily we had a reservation and that was reliving since it took me some time to get a parking spot, but that does not bug me since I am a very patient person. Since I was the last one to arrive, food was already on the table which was just in time for my big appetite. They offer authentic Chinese dishes, fresh seafood, specialty dishes, dim sum, Hong Kong style barbecue items, many unique fried items, wok specials, tons of soups to choose from, fine dried seafood/bird nest, vegetarian selections, homemade desserts and much more to choose from. Everything is made to order here which is always a plus for me since it is quality over quantity. The staffs here are welcoming, well trained, understanding, polite and helpful where my visit was a satisfying and issue free one. In fact, the head chef was nice enough where he came out to greet us even though he was on a busy schedule packed with tasks, but little did I know he knew my family for over forty plus years. The building has three levels in total, where you can do karaoke on the upper floors. Overall this place is slightly on the high end side, but I promise you will be satisfied with everything you order. I highly recommend this place to all Chinese food enthusiasts, if you are willing to try something new, a laid back spot to dine at or if you just so happen to be in the area to check them out. I definitely will be back to tryout the other delicious items they have to offer.

Dim sum are delicious, waiting time is shorter than expected, staffs are friendly. If you like hot and spicy, got to try their chili sauce on the table, it carries multiple layers of flavors .

Large selection of dim sum dishes. The dishes we tried were good. Dining room was comfortable–bright and airy.

We had a dinner with family friends at this restaurant and the food was amazing. The king crab was made three different ways, the Chilean sea bass was lightly glazed with honey and the suckling pig had juicy, crispy skin. We all left with many to-go boxes and a satisfied belly! The Caymus Cabernet Sauvignon also was a good quality red wine, very reasonably priced. I heard they are doing promotions Monday-Friday 11am-12pm half off on dim sum. I can’t wait to bring my friends to try!

We got one of the private rooms upstairs.
Parking is limited. 3 handicap and another 3-4 general parking. Some spots on the street. Make sure you are traveling north on El Camino. No u-turns around here.

Food is good. We made a reservation. Suckling pig is discounted atm.

Pictures below are what we had for dinner.

TLDR: good food for good value, plus private rooms!

We had some pretty great food here and they gave us a private room to sing karaoke in after. The roast pork was great and the Peking duck was crisp and juicy as well.

Hong Kong Palace was 1/2 empty at 11:30am on a Tuesday. It quickly filled up. There aren’t dim sum carts roaming the floor. The ordering system is marking the menu and submitting it to a staff member. There were only two people working on 25+ tables which is grossly understaffed. Customers had to refill their own tea pots, which is very odd for a dim sum restaurant. I was like, why are people walking into the kitchen with their tea pots? The waiter mis-marked our ordering sheet and some of the dim sum we ordered never came out. The first item came out after 30 minutes of waiting. The last item arrived over an hour after we ordered. So, if you have only an hour for lunch on a weekday, I can’t recommend Hong Kong Palace. Most of the food tasted below average. The exception was the tofu skin rolls. My friend sudden got up and went to the washroom to throw up. He later came back and said it was rancid. The noise level was OK for a conversation over tea. The only redeeming factor of Hong Kong Palace is the menu. Some of the dim sum sounded interesting. The food is below average. The kitchen is slow and the service is abysmal. There are much better lunch places in Millbrae/Burlingame.

With three stories, it is one of the sizable dim sum places in the bay area. The menu has lots of variety. Many customers order BBQ dishes. The price is competitive. The dim sum meets expectation, a bit on the salty side. The place is understaffed considering the size, resulting in inattentive service and very busy staff. That is a pity. The upkeep of the place is fair. That is another pity given the opportunities of the location and the real estate spaces. We like the menu overall. You can try and decide for yourselves.

Five of us came to try the $88 set menu for 4-6 people. (I initially thought it was $88 per person and was overly disappointed, but found out later it was $88 for all of us ).

We ended up ordering 3 other dishes, which brought our total closer to $200, but it was not bad. Everyone enjoyed the food.
