Reviews
Finally a local place that serves Italian coffee.
They have a great selection of baked goods; croissant, donuts, and lots of pastries, even with fresh fruits.
Customer service can be improved significantly though.
Cheers
“Should I check this place out?”
Yes. We gave it a try because it had good buzz as both a study friendly café and a bakery worth cheating your diet for. Win-win.
Study Haven in Old Town
It’s right across from the Monrovia Library Park, super convenient. I recently went with my mom, sister, and brother. Family field trip for caffeine and carbs. The atmosphere hit right away: clean, calm, and welcoming. The interior isn’t huge, but there’s enough seating, plus a nice window view of the park for people-watching. Despite being a chain, it blends perfectly with the Old Town vibe.
Cozy Vibes and Plugs Everywhere
The vibe is mellow, just background chatter and music, never overwhelming. Best part? Outlets everywhere. Perfect for laptops, phones, or pretending you’re working while scrolling TikTok. Wi-Fi is solid too, so my daughter jumped right into her homework groove. I just sat back, relaxed, and tried not to think about how she vetoed our house for this. Honestly though, the place just feels good, tidy, well-kept, and easy to hang out in.
Sweet Treats (and Allergy-Friendly Touches)
We couldn’t resist the pastry case. I went with the Pecan Tart and the Pineapple Brûlée Pastry. The pineapple one was a total showstopper. Flaky, custardy, topped with brûléed pineapple. First bite? Crunchy, creamy, fruity zing. Tasted like vacation and comfort food had a baby. The pecan tart was cozy and classic! Like mini pecan pie but with a perfect buttery shell. Both were excellent cheat-day choices.
The real MVP though? Allergen labels. Every pastry lists common allergens. Huge deal for me because I’ve got a kid with allergies. It takes so much stress out of picking treats when you can just check the tag. Not many bakeries bother, so big points for that.
Final Thoughts
Our original visit turned a “just do homework somewhere” errand into a fun little outing. My daughter got her quiet study time (sugar-powered, obviously), and I got my cheat day pastries with the fam. Peaceful vibe, lots of plugs, good Wi-Fi, and killer desserts, this place stands out!
All in all, Paris Baguette is perfect for both productivity and indulgence. You can set up with a laptop, knock out work, and reward yourself with something sweet. Lighthearted, friendly, and great tasting. This café just made my list of cheat-day go-tos and study spots.
Would we come back?
Absolutely. My daughter might even “suddenly” have extra homework just to get us back here and I’ll be right behind her for another pecan tart.

Good for dates? Totally. Chill vibe, pretty pastries, indoor/outdoor seating, and Myrtle Ave people-watching. It’s low-pressure but still impressive. Chill vibes and sugar instead of awkward silence and BBQ smoke.
The other good tidbit is that pets are not allowed, otherwise you might find my daughter with a cat still sitting on her lap while studying in that place!
I was very disappointed to say the least, I asked the clerk behind the counter why it was so empty and she stated they’re working on a new menu which doesn’t make any sense. I asked her when they would be bringing out the pastries, and she stated she did not know so I left and went to their competitor down the street that was fully stocked and ready for the morning rush.
Not sure why they were not ready to serve their customers this morning, it was the equivalent of walking into a donut shop at seven in the morning and more than half of the cabinet is empty.
I have never seen a mochi donut, and it did not disappoint! It was chewy and delicious. I also tried the cream cheese donut with sugar, and it was tasty too. Both tasted very fresh!
To go with the donuts, I had the brewed coffee, which was good.
I will definitely be back for the mochi donut and to try some of their savory items.
I had a very disappointing experience at this Paris Baguette location. The store felt like it was already closing, and the young male server who assisted me was extremely dismissive, rude, and abrupt. There was no greeting, no patience, and no basic courtesy—just an attitude that made me feel like I was an inconvenience.
Customer service is just as important as the food, and unfortunately, this experience fell far below expectations. I strongly suggest better training on professionalism, communication, and customer engagement, especially for staff working the front counter.
I hope management takes this feedback seriously so future customers don’t feel unwelcome.
