This restaurant is located inside the Bird Bay Plaza. It is relatively small with about 9 tables (seating 4 people each) and a sushi bar. There is a man’s washroom for one person and also a woman’s washroom for one person, which makes it quite inconvenient. It is a busy Friday evening. The restaurant is noisy but we still can carry on a conversation.
The food is surprisingly good. I ordered the Pad Jee-Mow (spicy noodles) with seafood combination (shrimps. Scallops and squid) for $21.95. The portion is generous and the food is tasty.
My husband ordered the Chef’s Specialty: Two Friends Pang, which is a rice dish with cooked shrimp and chicken in creamy panag curry sauce, served with mixed vegetables and asparagus, also for $21.95; and he said it was good.
The restaurant only takes reservation for 6 people and more.
The restaurant closes at 9:30 pm
All in all it was a nice evening out.

The food was good, I had the Pad Thai which was a bit sweet, but tasty. There are gluten free options marked on the menu. The only off putting thing was the very clearly AI generated music, which is a shame because the atmosphere is otherwise great.

By far, our favorite restaurant and experience. The owner was truly amazing, she suggested a handful of dishes to try and we ordered each. The flavors were so complex and perfect. Meals were well priced and dessert was fresh and sweet and great. Cannot tell you how many times we ranted and raved when we took a bite of food.

I came here for dinner with a group of friends based on all the recommendations and we really enjoyed it! The place is unassuning on the outside, and basic but cute on the inside. Service was decently fast and everyone was friendly. The egg rolls were delicious and super crispy on the outside. My boyfriend and I both ordered sushi and, wow, the presentation was just gorgeous! It wasn’t the BEST sushi I have ever eaten, but it certainly satisfied the craving and was still delicious. We got the sweet potato, sexy vegan, and spicy tuna rolls.

We will come here to dine in. Our usual spot is closed for a week or so for some reason. We love the Indian place a few doors away so when this came up on a Yelp search I figured I would drive over from Lake of the Woods/Jacaranda West area and pick it up. By the time I made the trip I did not expect the food to be kitchen hot and fresh: my review is not about that. I suspect to make things even more challenging, they told me it would be ready in 35 to 45 minutes…..and I was there in 30. I think it had been sitting already for a bit…the place was FULL with people waiting. There were 4 drivers in queue for Door Dash and Uber Eats I suspect.
We got the Chicken Satay as a common item, which my wife really enjoyed, the chicken was tender and properly cooked. Sauce and seasoning very nice. 8/10
We got the white rice. i am NOT a fan of white or basmati rice or any white rice for that matter, even brown is suspect with arsenic and chemicals and processing and packaging issue. But I would have gone for brown but that seems to be NOT an option here????
My wife selected the Spicey Basil Shrimp which was also nicely prepared and a healthy variety of vegetables lightly cooked and seasoned, a very nice job. The shrimp seemed a good product and not too scary (smile). She could not finish it and is taking it to work/school tomorrow. 8/10
My daughter rolled with the House Fried Rice with double egg but no meat/chicken. She really enjoyed this and this is here “test” entree. So simple and yet when its poor……you really know it!! Hats off this gets a 9/10
I got the Garden Vegetable Fried Tofu. This has a nice wide array of vegetables nicely firm but amply cooked. The sauce was also very nice. The tofu was cubed and fried on all sides but perfectly done and not greasy and oil charred blocks or rubber. Good tofu product!! I really enjoyed this! I will order this ON SITE when we dine in just to see how much better it will be kitchen to table fresh and hot!! 10/10
So for take out, this was pretty good. 10x better i am sure freshly served and not sitting on a shelf and in a plastic bag…. then driven 20 more minutes to the house….. great job Star Thai & Sushi.

Wonderful experience at Star Thai recently! We arrived and had to put our name on a list. It was a Monday and it was packed. No problem! They told us it would be about a 20 minute wait, also no problem! Well we waited for about 5 and they were able to pull a bigger apart and grabbed another chair. Bingo we had our table for 4! Our server was wonderful and helped us choose items from the menu based on what we told her. She even helped my hubby pick a Thai beer. Everything was absolutely amazing and I can’t wait to eat there again!!

The food was genuinely delicious and that’s the only reason this isn’t a one-star review.
Unfortunately, our experience was completely ruined by our server. She was unkind from the start and overall had a rude attitude throughout the meal. There was no warmth or professionalism in her service toward my family.
At the end of the meal, after we paid our total, she demanded a larger tip and began raising her voice, saying things like “What country are you in? This is America,” and insisting that I must tip more than 20%. This was extremely inappropriate, uncomfortable, and disrespectful.
She then called the manager and accused us of not tipping enough. I explained that the level of service we received did not justify a 20%+ tip. The manager was polite and apologetic which I appreciated but even after that, the waitress continued with her attitude instead of de-escalating the situation.
Tipping is earned through good service, not demanded through intimidation or disrespect. Being spoken to that way especially in front of family was unacceptable. Great food but the service experience was so bad that I’d definitely not go back.

Best Thai food in Venice/ Sarasota area. Food is always fresh, restaurant feels clean and the staff is really friendly. The crab rangoon is the best I’ve had, it is very light and flaky. The pad Thai is rich and more robust in flavor compared to other Thai places that lean towards the orange/katchup taste that I personally don’t care for. Tom kha (coconut soup) delish and the spicy basil chicken (pad krapow) is soooo good! I highly recommend if you’re wanting authentic Thai food to go to this location in Venice.
