Ordered Kimchi Fried Rice with Pork Belly and Avocado- slightly sweet, gently spicy (warm? Not hot really at all), fresh kimchi, excellent flavor. Hubs got the breakfast burrito which he called, “actually possibly the best breakfast burrito I have ever had.” He’s eaten a lot of burritos… so. Kiddos split the burger and we all munched on fries and tots. We ordered ahead and waltzed through the front door after we confirmed our order. (But not after entering into Aloha Kitchen first and completely confusing the staff there but we went a different day and you should also eat there because it’s also amazing but different than Sunny’s!). Also some of the best fries and potato mac salad I have ever had. This place doesn’t have a lot of indoor seating (not a problem because… it’s Oahu. Go outside, it’s likely beautiful) but every ounce of food is packed with flavor. Just amazing.

First time trying Sunny’s and it did not disappoint. My husband is vegetarian, so finding places with enough choices is always hard. He had the biscuits and mushroom gravy which was super flavorful and a good size portion. I had the Brekkie burrito with spam and it was SO SO delicious. Definitely recommend for a quick service bite, chill vibe, and great price.

Tasty, cute place. Great drinks and great food. And we love an anti-ICE establishment
Chickpea smash and biscuits and gravy was so good. Delicious strawberry matcha. The staff is so kind and upbeat

I enjoyed the breakfast burrito and coffee! Limited seating, only 4 tables so definitely get there early if you can. I wish the hours were a bit more transparent since it says 6 AM open but the kitchen does not open until 7 AM. It was fine though, I just got a coffee and waited. The food was quite yummy! I liked the local art and holiday decorations too. Located in a convenient spot in Waikiki.

Food was great — we got Brekky Burrito, Fried Rice, Orange Juice and Ube Latte for $37.

Limited seating but the area outside was cute 🙂

EDIT: Went here for the second time, got Burrito again + Chicken Karaage and they were great!

Similarly to a food truck but with a shop front. Breakfast was served to me in a paper takeaway container with plastic knife & fork. They could serve on plates with real cutlery which would lift the experience (perhaps they are too lazy or no dishwashing steriliser). Overall, very below average watery coffee. Food was tasty however let down by presentation in a takeaway container. Disappointing overall compared to online expectations & reviews. Service was friendly & lots of locals.

Such delicious breakfast here! I got the chickpea scramble and was super full and pleased with my meal. The portion size is huge (this could have fed me for two breakfasts) and the service was fast. There’s a couple vegan options so I felt like I had lots to choose from. Could have used a bit more salt and flavorings but that was easy to add myself.

**Sunny’s Local Grinds: Delicious Hawaiian Eats with a Few Misses on Drinks**
⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4/5 stars)

Wow, the food at Sunny’s Local Grinds is absolutely DELICIOUS! I decided to dive into some local flavors, and I was blown away. The spam was cooked to perfection – almost crispy and totally outstanding. The eggs were hands down the best I’ve ever had, and the omelet was just as tasty. Seriously, the breakfast here is top-notch!

That said, the drinks were a bit of a letdown. My Sunrise Tea (an Arnold Palmer) came out way too bitter, and the server had to add more sweetener to make it drinkable. My husband’s drink wasn’t great either.

We arrived around 6:52 AM and snagged seats with no line, but by 7 AM, it was packed! Pro tip: Get there a little before 7 if you want to skip the wait.

Overall, I’d definitely come back for the food – it’s worth it! If you’re in the mood for killer local grinds, give this spot a try.

Excellent option for a delicious meal. We had the Breakfast Burrito and the Loco Moco. Both were absolutely amazing. Come hungry, ask about the secret menu, and leave happy 🙂
