This was my first visit to La Jolla and our group went to Sushi Mori on our first night. I was surprised to see Uni on the menu in this little sushi restaurant so I had to order it. Our very helpful waitress suggested that I get the king scallop and uni sushi. I did and oh my goodness did it exceed my expectations. I am a big foodie and uni has been on my bucket list for years. Living in Texas, it has been impossible for me to get because it is so cost prohibitive to ship here. So I was delighted to be on the west coast where uni is harvested.

There is nothing better than fresh sushi rolls and steaming hot ramen to start the weekend! Luckily at Sushi Mori you can have both and so much more. Their fish is cut fresh daily and the rolls are almost too beautiful to eat. Sushi Mori has been family owned for over 15 years and is truly a gem. Plus it’s only a short walk to the iconic La Jolla Shores.

It’s only around the corner from the beach area! Not too crowded around 1pm on a weekday compared to the amount of people at the beach! Heard it gets busy during dinner time! Server was super nice and friendly! The spicy edamame was a great surprise! Fried rice was ok, but server recommended dropping the spicy edamame sauce over the rice which made it better! Sushi was good! I’m not much of a sushi person so couldn’t really tell you how it compares! But overall a nice time outdoors and worth the stop!

Run of the mill Californian sushi restaurant. Neither exceptionally good nor bad. Definitely not authentic but not in a bad way. Good service, if a bit unattentive, good atmosphere. It’s just kind of bland, tried, and unoriginal.
