Being that I’m from South Florida I get a craving for good Caribbean and Spanish food every so often and today was one of those days on my way home for lunch. This was my first time stopping in Mum’s and I will definitely be coming back. The lady that helped serve me today was so nice and absolutely on point with her recommendations. I ordered the jerk chicken with rice and had some of the oxtail stew gravy over the rice. I got a side of sauce for the jerk chicken too and I love the flavors in that sauce, a little sweet to compliment the heat. I also couldn’t leave without getting a beef patty of course.

I am upgrading Mum’s to a 5 star. I gave them a chance again today, and my food was delicious. I was feeling home sick today and wanted some Jamaican soup, Patties and black cake. My cravings can be that of a pregnant woman. Raised by Jamaican grandparents from Kingston, I know good food. I first tried the curry goat here last year and was pleased. Today, I had the chicken soup, beef Patties and a very moist black cake. Soup was excellent with dumpling and carrots. The Patties were nice and spicy. The black cake was a dream. I may need to order a whole cake. Everything was piping hot upon delivery.

I love their cabbage, rice & peas, coco bread, and plantains. I love jerk chicken but there’s is really dry and the sauce has a cherry flavor, which I don’t care for. I’ve been to Jamaica a couple tines and jerk chicken should not be dry, but tasty and moist. Service is not great but I go to Mum’s on occasion to support. Prices are reasonable, moreso than Lee’s Kitchen.

The food was good but I believe for the price I paid I could have gotten a better portion of oxtail I got a medium oxtail last week that had 5 peace’s in it and I didn’t complain because it was just a medium but I went back today and ordered a large and got 8 peace’s but two of them had almost no meat for what the large oxtail cost i feel like they could have at least put to more in there to compensate for the two with no meat the second photo is a picture of the medium oxtail I got last time for reference hopefully they read this review and take that into consideration for the future customers

The food was pretty decent but DRY, if they provided more sauce then it could have been better. The mac n cheese was a no for me, it was sweet & had a burnt taste to it, I think they use evaporated milk . Anyway, for the amount I paid, I feel that the portions were skimpy (except with the rice, they give you way too much…I guess to compensate for the lack thereof the main dish). The customer service was not the best, I had to wait 20 additional mins for my food (I was told my food would be ready in 35 mins). The owner said she would give me a discount for the inconvenience but she didn’t end up giving me one, no biggie. I should have listened to the mixed reviews, I won’t be back.

Super friendly staff (unlike Golden Krust), fantastic coco bread and patties. Curried goat was amazing and tender, too.

The jerk chicken & cabbage, it was awesome! The attendant offered gravy on the rice which was also great. I had the small for lunch but wish I ordered a large to enjoy more at dinner.
