Mama Bird is a wood fire concept from chef Gabriel Pascuzzi also of Stacked Sandwich Shop. Mama Bird specializes in grilled chicken and seasonal vegetables with salads and starches to go along with a 11 tap beer list and a sneaky good wine list. Mama Bird is very allergy, dietary restriction, and vegetarian friendly. A majority of the meny is gluten free.

If you really need some chicken and you’re in Slabtown, this is the spot. It’s pretty good and the drinks look nice, but some of the food is kind of missing the wow factor. Overall the plates look very nice but for us, it felt like it was not executed to the level we hoped it would be.

Had the full bird, grilled herb potatoes, and the grilled oyster mushrooms. Food was incredible, best grilled chicken I’ve ever had. All the sauces were great, you can’t go wrong. Root beer on top was also great. Great vibes. Food took a little while, but honestly we’ll worth the wait. Highly recommend.

Best meal we had while in Portland for the week! Sweet potatoes were a delicacy. So much so, we fought over the last piece. Once I tasted the wood fire chicken, I took a pass on dipping it in the sauces. Fun watching the food prep from our table. We felt it was a good value for what we got. I wished we lived closer.

Our food was awesome, the sauces here are amazing. There are lots of sauce options, there’s definitely something for everyone. When you walk in, you place your order at the counter right away, we sat on the outdoor patio which is so cute.

The food is amazing! The staff is outstanding. Thought and care is put into every aspect of the restaurant. I have never had chicken that juicy! The sweet potatoes literally melt in your mouth… and the cornbread is what dreams are made of. Have eaten there 3 nights in a row… I think a 4th is in my future!
