First time trying Chicago pizza and it wasn’t bad but I felt it came up a bit short. Appetizers, pizza and service were good but nothing out of the ordinary. It does take 45 minutes for a deep dish to come out and they do not hold up well for reheats as the crust gets super soggy. I’m also not from Chicago so I don’t know if its normal but there didn’t seem to be AC at the restaurant, or at least not strong enough to cool the place so it was a bit warm, granted I went in the summer. Overall it was a good experience but it wasn’t a place to remember.

Home of the Chicago deep dish. It had been many years since I had Gino’s pizza. I have never been to this location until now. There was no wait, and the pizza was as delicious as I remember. The service was good, and the atmosphere definitely gave you a Chicago vibe. I had the Gino’s special.

I love a good deep dish pizza while visiting Chicago, and Gino’s did not disappoint! We ordered the small Italian beef pizza (spicy and plenty for 2 people!) and the mozzarella sticks. And that giardiniera ranch is to die for. My only criticism would be the third party delivery company that they use for deliveries wasn’t fantastic….despite being only half a mile away, the pizza showed up cool with a soggy bottom crust and the cheese sticks were cold and solid. The flavor was there though, so maybe just skip the delivery and plan on eating in for the best experience.

Excellent thin crust and deep dish pizzas. The service at the bar was fantastic both nights I had dinner here. Prices are reasonable given the prices of meals in Chicago. It was not crazy busy on Thursday or Saturday night.

Ok, so I really need to expand outside of the big three or four Chicago pizza places, but I like Gino’s so much that I don’t see a reason to venture out. I just absolutely love the corn bread crust. It is just so good. Way back in the day when it was featured on Man v Food, Adam talked about the sausage patty across the entire pizza. I was then in love with Ginos. After visiting it again, I am still a huge fan of Ginos. Go there!

We’ve been in South Loop for a few years and never got around to trying Gino’s. However once we tried it, it wasn’t the best. We started with the mozzarella sticks which while very crispy on the outside, didn’t really taste like anything on the inside.

Our experience was pretty average through and through. We sat at the bar and ordered a small deep-dish pizza (FYI they take about 45 minutes). The tap list was underwhelming – the only local options were Gino’s own beers. We ran out of water several times as we waited, despite coming in after the lunch rush. When our pizza arrived, we realized that they’d actually given us the wrong pizza after a couple bites. We flagged this, and they swept the pizza away (presumably to throw away, instead of just offering to let us have that to avoid food waste). Eventually, our actual pizza came out. I was disappointed by the “cheese pull” that they describe as “legendary.” It’s literally just a string or two of cheese, nothing to advertise like it’s a unique scenario. Overall, the pizza was fine, but probably not something we’ll go back for.

While the food was good, not the best chicago style Ive had, it ranks well. The atmosphere was ok, very warm like there was no a/c and they just had a couple doors open I was not expecting that. The service, seemed like we were an inconvenience, very short and quick to come and go which I would understand if they were very busy, which they were not, especially when it takes 45-60mins to get food, im sure theres time to slow down and be friendlier to customers. Tried the cheese sticks, which they say are fresh in house made, solid 8/10, very good, fresh and hot. The pizza, while hot and freshly made was good. Sauce was alright, the cheese was good and the crust was good but the end crust is very dry. I would either same some sauce or order a side.

We visited Gino’s midday, around 3:00 and there weren’t many patrons there but they must have been short staffed because our server was everyone’s server which caused us to have to wait whenever we needed something. BUT she was very kind and had a great personality so I guess it was meant for us to exercise some patience on that day. The food was AMAZING!!!! The atmosphere was nice but it was warm in the restaurant which is t what you want when you’re coming in from being out in the heat. We ordered mozzarella sticks as our appetizer, the Gino’s deep dish Supreme, and a thin crust cheese and there are NO complaints here!!! Well maybe one, I was too full off of a couple of mozzarella sticks and one slice of deep dish, to try the cookie ice cream sandwich for dessert! Lol
