This place is wild. It is very cool that you’re eating on a train. Bob is the only guy cooking all the food and for 80 years old he can crank it out pretty fast. I got a burger and fries with grilled onions. Well it was nothing super special it was still very fresh and hot and good. Everyone else that was with us seem to like what they got there is a fish sandwich and some salads as well.

I must say I was a bit iffy about this place when I pulled up, however, when you go inside, it’s very nicely decorated very friendly people and great food, if you get a chance, try the brie and berry, compote, grilled cheese, or the ham Reuben!! Bob the owner who is also a World War II vet, was very friendly and showed us around all the parts of a train, it’s like a little museum in there and then he also has 100 your old piano that he fixed up and anybody can play, the back train car is being remodeled due to somebody, breaking in and vandalizing and robbing them, but the front still looks very nice, if you get a all the time and chance it’s a must to stop and eat there and look around, my daughter loved it and she is nine!

Very cool decommisioned train turned brunch spot. I love it! It reminds me of the small mom and pop bars and restaurants in alphabet city in NYC with its own unique charm. It had real table clothes. It was very busy. In the back are Ringling circus memorabilia. I love the whole concept. Eggs, fruit, toast only $6.50! Even with that someone was complaining. Whoa, just chill and enjoy the surroundings, the nostalgia, the great prices. I love it. I love the charm and appreciate the history.

This place is soooo cute! Great sandwiches too. If you’re looking for something unique and different for lunch then this place is a must. It’s circus themed and very cleverly done. We truly enjoyed the atmosphere and the food was great too.

Best kept secret of Sarasota! Didn’t know it existed for so long. I lived in the area for 9 years before going… So much history and memorabilia. Just the atmosphere alone is so worth the trip but food is also good too!

Such a cool and unique place to have a meal. On Sundays they have omelets made to order in front of you. I had a blt with their breakfast potatoes and a slice of melon. My hubby had a mushroom burger with breakfast potatoes and melon. All was good and hubby’s burger was loaded with fresh mushrooms. I heard several people raving about their omelets. I’ll definitely be having an omelet on our next visit. It was very neat eating in a train car. There are other train cars that are set up as a museum with circus and train memorabilia. This is a little off the beaten path but so worth the drive.

“Hidden gem,” is often overused, but Bob’s Train truly is one. You eat in a railway dining car with circus memorabilia aplenty. I had the grilled brie with jam sandwich and homemade chips and it was great. There is also a good chance that Bob, who does the cooking, will come out and say “hi.” The man is a walking encyclopedia of circus history, and also shares stories of his time in the U.S. Navy if you ask, such as being on a ship only a couple of miles from a nuclear bomb being detonated underwater when such tests were still allowed. Bob’s Train is a great atmosphere with great food!
